There are very few 3rd gens showing up in the local yards nowadays. I went to 3 yards, and there was just a handful of third gens total, and only one 86 Firebird, which had been picked pretty clean. I looked for you though.

I agree, I went to Ecology in Santa Fe Springs yesterday and the pickings were slim.
I agree. I love to go through JYs from time-to-time, and you're lucky to find a 3rdgen nowadays.
Five-to-ten years ago, you could find plenty of 3rdgens and salvage whatever you needed. But 3rdgens are rare finds now, and 4thgens have become plentiful.
It's pretty tough to get those air injection pipes off the exhaust manifolds. There is an '85 Trans Am down here in San Diego that still has all that stuff on it. At least it did last weekend. Of course it doesn't look like the '87 parts. If you're interested, the car is in the Pick-Your-Part off Nirvana in Otay Mesa. The one on the left side of the road. The car is almost at the back of the GM area.
Yes it did. It is home safe and sound with me now. The reversing switch and striker sensing switch have been refurbished and put into stock awaiting a customer.
Thanks Gearhead141, I'm still looking for '87 and up emissions parts. I'll be contacting the Huntington Beach PAP to see if any of those thirdgens are V8.
I know that you can get the A.I.R. injection lines from Autozone for less than $100 new. I work there and found em under smog tubes.
Thanks, I found the Air Injection Reactor Pipes there. If I can find them in a salvage yard it would be nice to save some money ... otherwise have to buy somewhere.
A 87 corvette was planted at the LKQ yard in monrovia January 31st. The TPI engine looked comlete, less the distributor cover pkate. I took home the EGR tube
Havent been there yet, but on PYPs website, click on "vehicle inventory", type Camaro in the box.You will see two cherry looking Camaros, both white, a 91 conv (1-23)& 92 (1-27) t-top.They look like they shouldnt be there.Especially the convertible. This in the Anaheim location.Love to save the conv, if I had a spot to park it.
There is another 91, but no pic.Someone should save that conv. All i need is a radio faceplate.
The other convertible is a 89 Firebird, color black. I took a picture of the trunk of the 91 Camaro convertible. Someone opened the trunk with a pry bar, splitting the trunk lid and breaking the spoiler into pieces. I was very sad to see it.
Do you know what date was on the 90 Camaro? I'm wondering if it was in fact the 91 blue Camaro that showed up on the online inventory for Anaheim on 1/21?

I believe it may be the same one, there's no pic on the website, but the color is blue.Thought I saw 90 on the door tag, site says 91 though.

Yep, I found one in the white t-top car, wrong style, but it'll do.
There is a 92 Firebird coupe at PyP in San Bernardino, and a 91 Firebird coupe at PyP Monrovia as of Saturday morning. Pretty picked through on both accounts, but still some random interior, body and mechanical parts for those who are looking...
There is a black 305 firebird and a white v6 camaro both have been picked but there's a few odds and ends left. Their in the Wilmington pyp in the bigger yard
Thanks for the vehicle pictures. I got excited to see the Fiero, but my excitement diminished when I zoomed in to see it was the 3-wire headlight motors, not the 87-88 2-wire motors.
If anybody going to the yards can locate a MAP sensor mounting bracket I would be appreciative. That and the rubber bellows that go between the intake tube and the throttle body on the Firebird/Trans Am. The only yards up here in Ventura County are in Santa Paula and they aren't very good for third gens.
There are several third gens at the Ontario, CA PYP. I was just there this past Saturday. There was a 89 firebird with really clean grey base model cloth seats and some other random useful parts
If anyone finds the center console lid for a 82-84 Firebird let me know, I don't care about the condition. I've been dying to find one as its really the only thing I'm missing. Unfortunately, the Camaro ones won't work because they open like a normal center console while the Firebird ones open sideways. Also have a Camaro lid if anyone needs it
The Ecology in Lancaster is gone, cleared-out. All that's left is a concrete block wall surrounding acres of sand, as if nothing was ever there. This occurred in March, which, I believe coincided with LKQ's takeover.
Even worse, I recently went by one of the valley's largest yards, and it, too, has been cleared-out, completely vacant of any traces of being an auto junkyard. This is the yard on Penrose, near Tuxford and Telfair. Some people might remember this yard for having other interesting things, like a Jaws shark, some military movie vehicle props, and a railroad car(a caboose).
Both yards had been around for decades. Sad to see them go the way of the drive-in movie theater, probably for the same reason: LAND.
I need a headlight motor for my 91 Firebird. I can trade a power window motor brand new in box. Don't know what years/models it fits or if they are standard? Thanks

Still looking ??
I have this out of a 83 S/E, And I do have the button/latch. Just no base plate.
Its brown but sure you can dye or repaint it some how.

Unfortunately the base plate and latch are the things I need the most. Even if the cover is trashed I have company that can redo it however I want, but they need the base plate to work off of. It sucks that GM made these so cheap and flimsy, especially since they attached the information sticker with the paint codes to them. I'm going to have to have my paint redone after this guy hit my Firebird and I don't know my code. Oh well, I need to fix my cracked frame first anyways. Any of you guys know of good shops in SoCal that do that sort of thing? I'm located in Big Bear
And sorry for the late reply, Didn't get an email notification for this

Beach Blvd JY.There are four 3rd gens, all camaros, 3 late 80s/1 early 80s.The grey one has the non AC Hvac box/controls.All are pretty complete, no TPIs
There is also a mid 90s vette w/ an almost complete LTI eng.
The pick a part in Rialto, CA currently has 6 third gens, and they all still had some good usuable parts on them. One still had part of a TPI in it even. One had an Iroc hood with a set of the louvers still attached.
Just got back from the Wilmington JY.There is a blk 3rd gen with the roof cut off, but it has the pass side C&C t-top in solid shape, dr.side is gone. There is another 3rd gen (primer blk) w/a nice cowl hood (steel) on it.Very tempted to take both, but no $$.No pics, but hese two.
