As for me, I will be degreasing a 2.25 turn steering box before sending it out to get resealed, removing paint and rust from gray valve covers and re-painting them, inventory all the parts I bought over the years again, and separate them according to what needs to be installed now and what parts are for future, down the road replacement parts.

It's been very hot here in So Cal lately so good time to paint.

Re: What are you doing to your car this Labor Day weekend?

One of my bulbs in a rear tail light that is awful weak. I'm going to change the socket and see if that helps. I hope its as easy as that. Thinking maybe its not getting a good ground there. I changed all the bulbs and several sockets out when I painted the car back in the fall and did not notice it at the time. Don't really notice it in daytime close up at all but you get 10ft from it at night and you notice it .

Will at least clean her up, maybe more just recharged A/C, blowing cold but not sounding right also just discovered my battery had completely fallen thru the engine bay and was being held up by the terminals super lucky the only thing keeping the pos terminal from grounding out was the rubber coated neg cable shielding it from the frame

so yea yea I got some work ahead of me

Various odds and ends. Making a switch plate for the exhaust cut out. Finish plumbing the new washer nozzles, etc. etc.

I carry a bottle of detail spray and a few microfiber towels in all of my vehicles just because of those. It's a pain to have to clean them off every time I park, but at least it keeps my paint in good shape.

Yep your paint looks great. And that is a great idea. I do the same thing in my car but pretty much park it in Aug-Sept since they are so bad. Almost every evening I actually wash my bumper and front of my pickup to keep my paint intact. The acid off these bugs will ruin paint they are so nasty. Keeping a good coat of wax on my rides helps to rub them right off without too much effort.

Re: What are you doing to your car this Labor Day weekend?

My Mom and Dad lived in a huge retirement community in Leesburg Florida, just north of Orlando. I went to visit them when they were alive and all the people there drove their Lincoln's (Mom and Dad included)with screendoors attached to the fronts of their cars!!! Damn they were bad there!

Re: What are you doing to your car this Labor Day weekend?

Leesburg...been there! My folks were in Lady Lake.

And yes, when my '91 RS was new, I took it to Charlotte for a race, and on into Florida for a visit. Was washing it every night, and that still wasn't enough. Caught one right on the leading edge of the hood, and by the time I washed it off, it had already etched big long tracks into the clear coat.

My 2nd project/love affair (1973 Ford Pinto) came to me with window screen zip tied over the radiator, thought it was just a hack by the little old lady owner to keep it clean but now I know for sure

I'd second that.

Looks just like one that was at the Nationals last week. Very nice.

supplies and raise money for the relief effort to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey just up road from us in the Houston and Texas Coastal Bend areas.

I didn't get any of my projects done outdoors it was so damn hot and humid out here in L.A. There was no way I was going to paint my valve covers and other pieces either with the fires that were full on over the weekend and the ash managed to get to my neighborhood. So also, spent it indoors. Too bad, would have gotten a lot done.
