Underdash panels the same for Camaro and Firebird?
I am looking for a passenger side underdash panel (large panel above feet) and a member is selling one off of a Firebird. Does anyone know if they are the same as the Camaro? I suspect they are but want to verify.

There are a lot more variations than a person would expect. Sometimes they're the same, but not always. Best bet is to go by the book and part numbers, or just wing it and see if they fit. The passenger's side is probably more likely to fit than the driver's...

Those panels are called "hush panels"
Heres a pic of the 3 different passenger side panels for a Camaro.
I don't know if Bird pass.side hush panels are the same.

Wow, I didn't know there were variations. I'll have to study both my 82/89 Pontiacs to see if they match one of those 3. I assumed they were the same. Never really looked at them that close. Thanks for posting that!

It's more than just those differences. The driver's side has variations in the courtesy light location, the number of retaining screw holes, etc. Some of the differences relate to A/C, some are Camaro vs Firebird, etc. There are times when they're the same, and others when they're not. That's why I suggest going by the books and the part numbers. If you don't have an existing panel to get the part number, the parts manual or assembly manual will usually give you the general direction. If you just go by what donor car the panel came out of, should fit some other car, you'll probably get hosed.
At the end of the day, you can have the "wrong" panel, and you can still make it fit, in some cases. FWIW.

Hmm... If only there were a book, or series of books, with part numbers, and illustrations... Something like that might even get scanned and uploaded to the internet...

Fairly certain your car should have the 'solid' version on the pass side.
After writing all the HUSH info I could find into a thread some time ago, I've seen several 90-92 Camaros since then that used the "notch" style on the pass side and I now think that 90-92 got the notch style. ( could be wrong after 25-30 years it's hard to KNOW what is and isn't originally installed parts anymore ! ) I've got spare hush panels so if you are looking for a set, send me a PM.

Dauymn! That list is AWESOME! From the looks of it, all three could be made to fit. Outside edge looks the same, only the center "panels" look different. But then again, that's from the pic.

AH, you're looking for the front piece and it looks like everyone else is talking about the part behind it. Or at least it seems that way to me??
