92 z28 5.7 tpi help !

so..

Im having this MAJOR problem in my Hawaiian orchid z, the car will not run right. idles fine, but as soon as i give it some gas.. the car stutters and wants to stall out. Ive changed plugs and wires, car has headers so all the smog stuff is gone, reset the timing to 6* BTC. It started out of no where about two months of owning the car and every day driving. when i first noticed it happening, i went to make sure it wasn't a timing issue and noticed the previous owner didn't tighten the dist. hold down tab and it was spinning.

fuel pressure is good
timing is good
fuel filter changed
fuel pump was replaced a few days before purchase by previous owner

i have no clue whats going on and it stumped me.
only thing left to check is the points/coil and the injectors.

any help is appreciated, thank you !

Always check the diagnostic trouble codes DTC. A real time scan is even better. Before you start spending money on parts get a dealership diagnoses.

Let us know what you find.

You might want to diagnose the code 22 first over the egr error.

Re: 92 z28 5.7 tpi help !

I would be looking for a vacuum leak.
One way to check for vacuum leaks is while the car is parked and idling you can spray WD-40 / starting fluid / something in that family. Spray around the engine bay with motor running and listen for RPM changes and that's where the leak will end up being somewhere in that vicinity good luck

Code 22 is throttle position sesor voltage low.

Code 32 is EGR system malfunction.

What you really need is a shop manual that shows you how to test and verify those problems so you can correct them. You can also use internet searches but it's something you need to sort out yourself.

Good luck and let us know if you have any specific questions.
