If you're referring to the window sweeps, they're 7mm hex head screws on both of my '91s. I was able to replace mine without removing the window. Just had to loosen up the window guides, and remove the triangle bracket things that bolt to the window regulator and hide the side mirror screws. You'll also need a 7mm wrench to get in the tight spaces. Good video from 1A Auto on it here
Both,.... Chevy used both Philips screws and 7mm hex screws for the outer window sweeps. Just depends on the car, pretty sure 'early' thirdgens used screws and they changed the mid-eighties & later cars to use the 7mm.
When the Philips head screws were used it's kinda' hard to get access to 1-2 of them. Even with the window "loose" inside the door there's 1 or 2 that are partially blocked by the glass ( no matter how you move it around inside the door ) and you'll need some type of 90 degree bend on the Philips head driver to remove them.
Thank you. Thinking of switching to philips. I have hardware store sheet metal screws with exact dimensions, except probably thicker head than GM hex. Will paint black and use if not too thick.
Hawks item. May have different thread pitch, but has a thin head. Assuming one replaced all 14 screws, would be only $32 plus shipping. Not bashing Hawks, just impressively expensive for this particular part. Hawks is a great resource for us.
This this is a standard #8 sheet metal screw. A metric variant without washer head may be a better match. Possibly the same as those used throughout interior and body, only short. Examples I see in my parts bin are labeled M4.2-1.41. These have a washer and smaller dia head than the phillips, but thinner than the #8 sheet metal screws.
Everything they sell is overpriced garbage. They've always charged the highest prices, even when they were little more than a scrapyard. But as long as people are willing to pay $30 for a few screws that normally sell in a box of 100 for a few bucks, things will never change.
Actually a couple shots on a grinding wheel should knock down the height, assuming too tall. Now if only had a grinder. Might be time. Car currently in shop therefore cannot test heights. Will share what I learn, if I learn.
As far as Hawks, I'd pay $21 for 18 of those screws, shipped. At least would cover the 14 needed per car, plus a few to lose in the process. I'd have what is needed and wouldn't mind the assumed convenience fee. I suspect those screws are more nuisance to sell than anything, by time they pay overhead, staff, snd shipping.

Screw that. Hawks isn't even selling you the right screws. 11508256 is a GM part number. You can get those screws for less than Hawks price at the dealer. But they're still incorrect for the application.
The correct part number is 11503617, M4.2x1.41x10 which is a fancy way of saying it's a #8 sheetmetal screw. That number however is discontinued and doesnt seem to have a current substitute.
Just browsing the Auveco catalog, there are a few phillips screws that should come close, but no hex drive screws less than 13mm long. The head on these screws isn't anything special, and I wouldn't be too surprised if a 13mm screw would fit. Anyway, a box of 50 or 100 almost exact screws runs about $6 on Ebay.
Good to know. I can check the head thickness tonight in the sweeps. If too thick can use grinding stone on drill to get them thinner. Don't need the blade slot, only the hex.
Whole point, of course, is have hex head screw instead of original phillips.
