Re: Best Camaro Sub Box Ever
It started as a cheap bar light off ebay, just engraved perspex. I added the mirrors and the LEDs to it and it is wired to come on when the amp switches on. My amps are in the spare tire well.

Thank you for that. It hits when I get the urge, I'm driving it with 1100 watts RMS from the sub channel of the amp. It's set up as an SQ system and I normally play it at a comfortable volume to hold a conversation. I have on occasion lit up the third digit on my ammeter (over 100 amps) for well over 1000 watts. I've no idea what the dB level is as I haven't had it measured.

i have noticed alot of peaple just but down a thick piece of mdf and cut a hole and use the well as there box, thats just not right, the air space would be all wrong and it wouldnt resonate, so i built mine full box and all, it was a bitch to get her in though, had to pull the whole interior *** end apart including the rear latch and motor

Crappy cell phone pic but this is my set up. It's a sealed enclosure from sonic electronix and 2 hiphonics 12's the reason i have em flipped is because when i had em the other way the plastic piece on one of the subs rattles for some reason.

Heres what I did. One amp powers the 12" sub, the other amp powers the 6x9s. Got the ideas from this site Did alot of research into the proper air space for the sub, wire size, ohms etc. Being my first build audio wise, it was more than I had anticipated. Took me about 3 days just to figure the right measurements for the box and with the right airspace. SO im slow

Re: Best Camaro Sub Box Ever
This is my setup. The box starts at the rear seats and is about 4" deep at that point.
At the hatch it drops down to the first level and stops there.
I'm really wanting to change to a different box that will be recessed into the hatch,
so that I have room to store my t-tops in the factory locations. It sounds good though. Previous owner did the work.

Granted, there's a bit of power there, but I rarely use it all. High power systems sound excellent at low volumes, too.

Aren't they for 4th gen interiors? You might end up with gaps on the side.

Re: Best Camaro Sub Box Ever
A couple quick tips come to mind right away. Measure more than twice before you make your cuts. I actually drew it on paper first, then measured and measured and measured, which is probably the hardest part imho. Make sure, whatever sub you use, that you get the correct air space box wise made underneath the sub. I went with that rockford sub because it is a shallow mount and sounds absolutly perfect for my needs. Didnt really use any sites except this one as references. Couple of things I would of done differently. possibly add some sort of handle to lift the unit out when needed, and then I really should of used particle board instead of plywood. Live n Learn I guess

I didn't just lay the wood back there, though. Basically, I cut a piece that formed with the rear wall and sat tight against the bottom of the well. I attached it to the car using sheet metal screws and liquid nails sealer. Then I put a ledge on the front wall of the well using a 1"x2" and attached it the same way. Of course the top of the ledges were level with the top "shelves" of the well.
Then I used liquid nails sealer to seal up every possible crack and screwed the plate to the wood ledges using drywall screws and sealing them with liquid nails construction adhesive. It weighed next to nothing and sounded very good.
I even ported it later on. That was after I hit 135.5 dB. I never had it tested after that, but it certainly hit harder.

^^^ Beautiful!!
I have a single 12" sub, so I'm thinking of hiding the amps in the left side trunk area, and sealing the right side trunk for the sub... Not 100% sure yet though
