IMSA wide body kit
Does anyone know if Showcars-bodyparts.com is still open? I've contacted them three time, twice by email and once by phone and heard nothing.
I really love that IMSA kit they make. and would like to get one soon.

There is a sticky in the vendor review section that doesn't make them sound too good.

DO NOT order anything from that company. They will take your money and leave you hanging for a year then ship you garbage.
Plenty of reviews on the web. You have been warned.

Re: IMSA wide body kit
Last question before I let the thread die, anyone else make this kit? or one similar to it?
I really like the wide body look, but I guess I'll be rolling fenders like a SOB...

You could try here and modify the kit to fit the bird.

I'm actually considering making a small production run for a fiberglass wide body kit. I'm making the molds for my car as we speak.

Oh ok, how wide do you plan on making them? Are we talking stinger wide or like that IMSA kit wide? Any quote able price? And how would they be installed?

Re: IMSA wide body kit
I'm thinking it will be 1 1/2 inches in the front and 2 inches in the back, but that may change after I test fit. They would be installed like most other fiberglass wide body kits. You would have to use epoxy or adhesive and smooth the edges with your choice of autobody filler. I use dura glass. If I do make a production run it would likely be between 300 to 400 for a set of four, but it all depends on how much the production cost is and how many people are interested in it.

The more people that buy in the cheaper it would be for each individual.

This body brings the doors out to the fender width.
I got a door and rear bumper for my car from him last year.

Re: IMSA wide body kit
The photos on this thread are of cars with small flares.
They may be what the OP is looking for but they would not be recognized as "IMSA" flares imho.
Real IMSA fenders can be attached to a production car too, just need to find a craftsman that can handle the job. (easy to screw up)
If someone is going to make an IMSA Camaro tribute car...
Fwiw in the early 80s IMSA cars were equipped with 10 inch wide rims all around, about 85/86 IMSA cars like mine switched to a 12 inch front and a 14 inch wide rear rim. Choose the era that suits you.
Here it is with the camaro body removed.

My gosh, Morrow.
When I watched that One Take, I couldn't figure out why or how the car had been widened, but now with those screen shots, I see how. So subtle, like a sledgehammer painted in flat black. I like how you did that.
p.s. Is that '83/84 paint code 82 on your car as well?

Re: IMSA wide body kit
It would be pretty cool. I considered (Briefly) building an all-steel widebody kit much like JBA's Mustang kit from the late 80's. While I am ok at bodywork and a Master welder, I just don't think I have the kind of artistic ability to pull it off.
Look up JBA'S (J. Bittle American) mustang body kit. It was a real thing of beauty.

Just like the aforementioned picture!
This is definetly the cleanest of body kits for foxbodys. I wonder if you could take a JBA body kit and retrofit it to a third gen?

Re: IMSA wide body kit
Back in the late 80's and early 90's I had a supercharged '88 GT. If I remember correctly, they wanted more for this all- metal kit than I paid for my Paxton supercharger kit. My car was the same color (Cabernet red) as their test car, shown in the picture, so it wasn't hard to imagine it on my GT. I've never actually seen one of those kits outside of pictures. Both the 3G and the foxbody were pretty straight-sided, so it probably wouldn't be a big deal to make it work on a thirdgen.

How would one go about making box fender flares... I’m actually very interested in making some of these for my 3G now.
I’m really digging these hollow style flare though.
