What are the advantages if any of using this over an oem harness in a 87 Chevy truck TPI swap? Speed density setup backed by a 4 speed transmission.

The advantage is this is new vs a 20 some year old harness and easier to install than a factory harness for a conversion.

Lol, guess I should have said "aside from the fact it's new". Would I need to purchase any additional components as far as wiring is concerned to "integrate" this into my truck? It's currently a factory TBI system. Thanks for your time.

Your vss sensor will work if it's Hook to pin c6 of the ecm the other thing you need is a plug for the iac or use a lt1 throttle body or iac housing.a memcal will need to be programmed for the c6 optical vss hookup. Memcals can be expensive I do have a few v6 ones I can program to work for a small price.
Right now the vss is Hook to a10 on your 1227747 ecm a brown wire.

Sorry I should have clarified, truck is a 4 speed manual not auto. It's 4 speed from the factory so it has a cable driven speedo. Understand on the IAC also. I would assume the same ecm model? Have never physically touched or examined it.

Same ecm for tbi truck 87-91, you could use a retrofit vss without memcal reprogramming other than disabling vats.

Ok, if I'm understanding correctly, the linked parts would be the way to go in order to keep my speedo working. As far as programming goes here's my dilemma:
While not anything exotic, the motor is not stock.
Hot cammed, aluminum headed 383. I think it will require a few attempts to be dialed in and because of this I figured it would make the most sense to purchase a system and tune myself. Am I thinking correctly? I appreciate your master tuning experience.

Your right on your thinking, the speedo can remain cable drive and the ecm can either use a 2k ppm optical signal or the additional parts 4K ppm magnetic pulse. I haven't done that same combination it will take some data logging to refine be fueling. Or to get up to speed foster get a dynamic efi ebl p4.

Thanks for the education. I was leaning toward the ebl so your endorsement deals the deal. I guess we can get down to money then. I actually have an extra ecm, so would you sell the harness separately? If so, what's your "this guy is here today ready to deal with a minuscule amount of cash in hand"? Actually PayPal, but you get my drift. Feel free to pm me if the price is so low you're ashamed to post it.
