Original Decals location.

Re: Original Decals location.
Agreed. It's hard to get the exact color. Bright white is not the correct color, but more of a yellowish white is what mine look like now. Not sure if that's just aged, or if that's the actual color. Kind of like the tag found on the brake fluid reservoir shown above. Or like the master cylinder tag that was pictured in another thread.

Re: Original Decals location.
I have a 20k mile set of springs, shocks and struts from a 92 formula 350 at home. Thinking the tags aren't yellow on those but I'll try to dig them out tonight for more examples for us to learn from.

Re: Original Decals location.
I think we are all correct to a extent.
Here are some 92 FORMULA 350 springs
Fronts are yellow, rears are white/dirty off white
Here are 2 pix of a low mile car, yellow front, white(ish) rear.
Rear
Front
Think this was a 89 formula 350, can barely see the yellow front spring tag and also the light blue swaybar tag

Re: Original Decals location.
One thing to keep in mind is that the rear springs (and their tags) are much more exposed than the fronts. By nature of their position, they catch all the water spray from the front tires. It's not too much of a stretch to imagine why they could be more discolored than the fronts that are considerably more shielded.
I'll have to take a closer look at my mountain of springs next time I'm out there, assuming it ever warms up! It's entirely possible that I've always assumed all four corners are the same color, due in part to dirt, undercoating overspray, fading, etc.

I took Drew's advice and looked. I think I found our color.
Definite NOS and likely indicative of the color used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-2003-PONTIAC-GRAND-PRIX-REAR-SUSPENSION-COIL-SPRING-GENUINE-GM-NOS-H-2-BF/122170933410?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D38530%26meid%3De21e6b0ecfe8498ba61bd5b25c09d1a7%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D121205736151

Re: Original Decals location.
Has anyone noted a factory paper tag on the driveshaft of a late third gen?
I know they used tags on the prop shaft in 1993.
Thanks in advance!

Never seen that, guessing you are talking about steel DS. The aluminum ones have a plastic like tag on them that has all kinds of info.

Re: Original Decals location.
Yes Steel. The inspection marks, (1987 NOR) Dark green, Coral (pink) and Light green on the U Joints -were very close to what was used on my 1993 (St Therese) and it (93) had a paper date tag on it too.

Re: Original Decals location.
Looking for a good door decal measurement for decal placement on 87-90 formula 350. Any Original paint formulas get me a measurement from the bottom of the door to bottom of the decal?

Tony,
That stupid decal can be almost anywhere below the center of the door
Honestly My Formula 350 Convertible is TOO HIGH, and that is how it came from the factory, it is almost in the center of the door top to bottom.
I used to have some measurements I just don't have them on hand.

I know! On the solid color cars they just seem to be anywhere on the door. However, I have noticed, on the sliver bottom cars with the stripe, they seem to be more accurately located. That's what I'd like to get a measurement from.

Re: Original Decals location.
I'm sure everyone has their own way of doing these, but it might help each other out if we share what font and maybe even size matches best. It'd also be nice to know what materials people are using, like paper, inkjet vs laser jet vs hiring a pro printer. I'm hesitant to go too far into posting exact templates to be printed since A) they'll be hijacked and end up on Ebay and B) we'll start seeing them stuck all over the wrong cars.
So far I've taken the best photos I can find, then resize them in Photoshop, approximate the colors, then using a new blank layer, I paint a duplicate over the original to get rid of the artifacts, damage, and make for a sharper image. It just takes awhile to get the lettering sized right, then find the right font, etc.
I had a few ready to print on good paper, I backed them up to another drive, and then in typical fashion that drive failed. LOL Maybe I should have shared my work afterall. LOL

Re: Original Decals location.
I did a lot of research and people (TTA community) contributed with photos and dimensions needed .... had a guy do them and print (to order) for us ... so we could have these available and people could just go and order what they needed ... we got I would say 90% of everything on a TTA done and some ordered what they needed however at one point GM called the guy and asked for license fees to be paid upfront for future orders so needles to say something done for the hobbyist he could not afford so he stopped doing them ... myself and others spent a lot of time making them available however all that work is gone .... I do have all the information I collected and I even did other decals for my own use and professionally printed and die cut to correct size (so not a regular inkjet printer at home) one of them being the correct battery decal ... then someone bought a couple from me copied and printed them (you can tell as his is much fuzzier being a scan and not crisp design like my original) put them on ebay and sold a lot of them I would say he netted easily $1000 USD on my time and investment.
I'm all for sharing and contributing to the community if its a 2 way street and if people don't take advantage of it .... in the end its a hobby and if everyone do contribute we can get so much more out of it and everyone put their fair share into it.
This is what I would love to see done at some point:
http://fierostuff.com/fiero-stickers...rder-stickers/
But with pretty much anything you can imagine for our 3rd Gens.

Here are a few prop valve codes I have to add to your collection.
Lost a lot of my original code decal pix in the great hard drive crash of '15.. but I do need shock/strut an spring decal codes for a 92 formula (think all the formulas are the same)
I also need both 9bolt diff code decals. 8EQ(?) and 9EQ

What is really interesting is the white covering on the T-top, not all cars have it, but the white car behind the blue car almost looks like the T-top was painted... Matches the white almost exactly.

The TTops had a protective covering on them when shipped from the supplier to help prevent scratching.

Any chance you can get a clear scan of that tag? Could use an example to make a repro for my Formula. Still have the LF stamped valve, but the label is long gone.
One of these days I need to sit down and repro all the vacuum line tags, and the tags for the throttle cables, etc. Most of that stuff was removed by me over the years as the paper and glue gave up and they started falling off. No decals look better than shredded decals.
