Should there be a cover here?
I just changed the oil for the first time since I got the car and noticed there were 4 holes that looked like a cover and bolts go here. Should something be here or is it for something else? The other 2 holes are forward a little and up more.

Re: Should there be a cover here?
I finally found another post about this and they said to leave the flywheel/ bellhouse cover off as it would keep the transmission cooler. What's your thoughts?

Most of the time they're gone because your mechanic hands you a box of "spare leftover parts". The V8 covers are generally plastic, and they take a beating, get cracked, and they're a bit of a pain to finagle around the starter snout and the trans cooling lines. Personally I put them back on. Is it worth trying to find one to replace the missing cover? I'll let you decide that for yourself.

You can get the OEM plastic, or they make a pretty chrome one. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=...spection+cover

I thought I saw somewhere where there was an aluminum piece from a Corvette, but don't quote me on that. I remember several years ago seeing a plastic one that had vents to allow cool air to circle through.

Put the cover back on, it was there for a reason. Road debris can get caught up in the flexplate/torque convertor and case problems. As for cooling, how much cooler will the torque convertor run with minimal air blowing across it? Your choice but I would replace the cover.

Here's the p/n of the aluminum one from C4 Vettes that I was talking about, 10126478.
