Wow... And with 17" wheels, this was a big deal in 1988. It was new on Corvette that year...

Panoramic roof, and more...

Re: Ever see an ASC Firebird Suntour?

Looks like only one was ever built and is now in private hands. It didn't have the 230 hp 5.7L, but a 5.0L LG4.

http://www.hotrod.com/articles/0210h...ebird-suntour/

The article claims Recaro seats were used, but they are clearly Corvette Sport Seats up front from an 84-88 style.

Looks like paddle mirror, too...

Cool car. That may have been a cool route GM could have gone.... an option for a targa roof....

Polycarbonate windshield. Different concept for sure. Wonder how rigid that body would be with much roof structure

When I bought my wife's SUV, I purposely avoided the "panoramic" roof option, as they were notorious for leak issues. Even though it was a "sealed system", the flex must've been real. And in a ~400 hp SUV, I figured it was a bad idea.

Cool concept, and the Suntour looked like it was a coupe to begin with, but I doubt it would've stood the test of time. Also wonder if it was braced underneath like the convertibles
