Yup that's my 84. It looks like hell but it only has 70k miles on it. Some rust on the inner rockers and hood but other than that it's clean. Trying to get the title fixed then it will be my dd. Cleaned it a little bit, there's actually nice paint underneath. I'll make a build thread when the time comes.
Sorry for off topic but is that oil pressure ok or is the gauge reading wrong?Even at idle mine sits somewhere in the middle.
I don't know. Maybe somebody can chime in. That's about where it sits when the car is warm and idling, especially in stop and go traffic. On cold start, the pressure sits at around 55. When cruising down the highway, hot or cold, the it seems to be about halfway between 30 and 60.
Note the temp in stop and go traffic creeped up to about 220. On the go, temp seems to be about 170-180. If you sit in traffic in the heat, it'll creep up until the fan finally kicks in (which means over 230), at which point it comes down to 215-220 until you start moving again. It tends to stay cooler overall if you have the AC on. Stock thermostat, had the cooling system flushed many times when I got it to clear some rust out.
Car runs strong, rolling into the throttle on an uphill onramp in 2nd and the backend gets loose. It still surprises me despite all the negative things you read about the 305TPI. About the only issue it has is with the AC on, there are a few hesitation points up the RPM band. Not sure if that's reality for an old car with AC (parasitic loss) or if there's something else going on.
Yup! Was waiting for somebody to notice what it was... and not only is it rare, but it had an up to date CA plate, meaning it runs well enough to pass smog.
saw an absolutely beautiful 87 gta get on the highway right behind me in Milford Connecticut last week in the rain. this thing was gorgeous, I'm not usually a stickler for driving cars in the rain but I wouldn't have done it in that car.
Looks like the TA either is super safe with his lights up during the day, or needs a repair kit. Thats the only thing I didn't like about the 'birds, when the lights break and the pop ups are up all the time. Lol
