My rear end build
After spending months lurking on here wish I could get funds and motivated to start my project again I finial came into a little extra cash. So I decided to get back to work on my Camaro since I now I have a garage to work. I wanted to start of on working on things I could repair and replace on my suspension and rear end.

After alot alot of sanding and painting I still have a way to go. But its starting to come together.

With minimum work got it out.
I strugled all day at work on if I want to by a sand blaster or just use a little elbow greese and get it done. Degreaser and a scrub brush, but I must say oven cleaner worked best

I had a leak so I got a pinion seal kit.
This is where I got real nervous! I never messed with a rear end. With the help of a few threads on this site and the Google I took it all apart inspected, cleaned and replace the bearings and top it off with new fluid. Shout out to my buddy that had the toys I need to put it all back together,
Removed all the rust with wire brush wheel and sandpaper.
I think I did good for the first time. I put down three coats of black and red. I don't know how long its all going to hold up. But since it will not be a show car I guess it will be ok.

Did these for now. In the near future I plan on lower the car once I figure out what size tires and rims Im going with.
The bad part about sanding and painting parts you cant just do some parts. You must do all to make it look good.
I really expecting a rusty gas tank like the others I have seen on here. I was surprised that all I had to was use some hot water and soap. Still Cleaned the inside of the tank out even though I did not think it really needed it.

Nice job. Liking the way the springs come out. I think I'm going to the paint mine too since I'm in the process of swapping out the rear.
What kind of paint did you use and what color ?

Cleaned with a wire brush and Simple Green. Was going to leave it like this but TGO members suggested I undercoat it.

The car is all back together every bolt torqued down. The only problem is now is that when I sat the car down it some how is lowered about an inch. I jack it back and checked everything out but cant find a problem.
Any ideas?

Yes they in there. I even zip tide the spring to the rubber piece to insure the tip of the spring was in the right spot. I just got from under the car cant figure it out. I'm wondering did I buy defected struts.

Re: My rear end build
Hey I just got a 9bolt posi that had the disc brake set up but i am trying to use my old drum brake set up when i went to install the backing plate i found out the the bracket are different the posi uses four bolts the plate i have only uses two bolts. what can i do to make this work or do i need to buy a different backing plate with four bolt holes? if so which cars had the backing plate that would work on an 82 camaro with the four bolt holes?
