New addition 350 89 GTA vert from CA to Missouri
Flew to Ontario, CA Nov 1st & landed around 12:45. Rented a car & drove to Riverside, CA. We (flew a long time friend with me) had to wait until approximately 3:00 to meet with seller at his place. We grabbed a bite to eat in the meantime.
Met seller & looked over the car and was exactly as expected possibly a little better than I was hoping for. Paid up, returned rental car & headed to Barstow, CA.
Rented a hotel around 10 PM in Needles, CA and slept about 7hrs.
Took off that morning and drove until the evening &,stayed the second night in Tucumcari, NM, watch the 9th & 10th innings of the World series & spelt again about 6-7 hrs.
Headed out through NM, Texas, Oklahoma then into Missouri.
My 2 day estimate took 3 days but car was reliable & drove well throughout the 1800 miles. Suspension can use shocks & a couple bushings but nothing major was wrong. Overall a solid trip with just one stop by the Texas Highway patrol looking for drug smugglers (we were let go without incident.
Cool car & good documentation.
At In N Out Burger in Barstow, CA.
At hotel the first night (notice headlight up, motors need rebuilt or some adjustment).
Hotel the second night
Made it back Thursday evening & took a pair of 89's to a car show Saturday.

Rarebmx,
Neat stuff in getting to fly out and check out the car before buying it. Smart too, A little more than a year ago I had a guy fly into Denver and his friend drove him to Colorado Springs to check out/buy my 1966 Ford F-100 Pickup. After twenty minutes of questions and looking the truck over he told his buddy to take off... another hour or so of looking over the truck and my maintenance records along with a long test drive be bought the truck without haggling. (I was the second owner and did a monor restoration when I bought it twenty years earlier). He then drove the truck home and when he finally arrived he called to let me know he had not one single issue even in the mountain passes(I knew he would not).
I drive my 88 IROC Convertible as a daily driver (210K miles) and have owned it eleven years. Earlier this year drove on a 1800 mile round trip to Iowa and back to Colorado and getting ready to go on a 1500 mile roundtrip in Dec. Enjoy your thirdgen, gotta drive em!

I lived in Denver for a while & I think if this would have been a trip in Nov through the Rockies, I would have had it shipped.
Cool story & there are good people out there still. I brought all cash to pick up this one, so you just never know what you're in for. Glad it was from a long time member here on TGO & smooth as silk.
My daily is a Suburban with 200+ on it. THAT Suburban I'd take anyplace but the 3rd gens are for special occasions.
I try to get them out to shows once in a while but usually can only bring one at a time (had step-son drive the IROC this weekend ).
