Ok ill double check a few things. I was always tought .001 for every inch of the diameter... ie. Our 2.xx journals need .002xx of preferred clearence.
I hope i dont regret these mls head gaskets... no more fuse to blow and save me.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Started playing arround with the cage today. Going to be fun making some of those welded alot worse trust me..lol
The only things that all welded out is the main hoop mounting plates. I wasent going to do that in the car. A bit tight on the outter edge.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Im currently missing drag week and its finally came to my home area... norwalk ohio.
But im still dealing with my moms issues and alot of other things.
Updates on the car. I finished tossing the other side of shocks and struts on. The block is ready to assemble. I just need to get my pistons and toss all of that in there.
Ill be using my delta 270 cam again as its a good turbo cam.
Im also doing a complete overhaul on my trans. It will be built as much as you can with new hardened and better parts all arround.
I have about every last part to do what i want this winter so my car is a solid 11.50 bracket car that is actually reliable and not hacked together.
Optium red top bat
New 35000 gwv trans cooler.
Braded 6an trans lines
Braded 10an and 4 an oil turbo lines
PTC billet front nissian core 9.5" custom converter
TH350 tubular x member/ adjustable tq arm with d shaft loop
Lakewood struts and shocks
Boost smart 38 W gate
Locar dipstick
All new wiring though out the car for the add ones with a new switch panel with breakers.
electric water pump
arp head studs
cosmic mls head gaskets
COMP Cams Pro Magnum lifters
6/8pt roll cage.
New pistons, moly rings, clevite bearings all arround, timing set, you name it
So I have alot of work in front of me but im tired of having a hacked together drag car.
Right now my spare time is spent welding in the roll cage as i want to get it nhra track cert next spring. Im tig welding it all which is pretty easy but alot of welding when you have to weld in the 6x6 plates.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Got my turbosmart bov today. I will be happy to finally have a very good quality bov and wastegate that I dont have to worrie about for once.
I saw this that is very cool. A sensor cap for the turbosmart wastegate. It will give a feed back position of the wastegate itself by a 0-5vts feed back. I'm not buying on but the idea of it is definitly cool. I have my solenoid that does its thing so I can see the command but to see real live feed back from a wastegate position would be nice.

I'm not going to comment on hospitals, doctors. what they put their patients through, and then finally hospice. What I will say Mark is whether you believe or not, your mother is in God's hands, and everything is going to be okay. Believe me it will. If and when that moment comes, remember that she is right there beside you, and in a blink of an eye you will one day be there with her. You will most certainly see her again, but while you are here keep honoring her by living your life how she taught you, and pass on everything she has given you to your kids. It's going to hurt Mark when it finally happens, it feels like a piece of your heart is being ripped out of your chest, be strong, and remember that she is no longer suffering, and her eternal sole is back where it is before coming here 59 years ago. Always remember that she stands with God, all of us will one day.
God bless her.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
I sorta did a thing.
I came into a deal where if I set up a hughes Canopy at every race next year, contingent that I at least go to 10, also display the hughes stickers on my car where it's visible and a few other things I got a transmission at cost. I got this hughes 850hp rated trans with a 9 inch tail reverse full manual valve body and also a transbrake which I won't use next year for a steal. I have a few other sponsors for me such as Royal Purple and T and T Graphics out of Bellevue Ohio. But I cannot pass up on one from this company. One for my good friends became a authorized dealer and helped me get my foot in the door
Sometimes you will be amazed on who will sponsor you when you have a car that has a lot of attention. Most of the ones I've never tried to get are usually 10 to 20% over cost but this is the first time I've ever gotten something at cost. It is a first for me and since it's part of Fasteddi boosted Specialties it is tax exempt
The next spring we will be running this transmissions and having the other one as a spare although I doubt I will need it

nice job , i might be interested in ur old th350 if u want to sell it , ill be needing a spare next season. i really dont expect a th350 to live long behind my motor when its turned up and having a spare to rotate in while i rebuild the other would deffinatly be a huge +
when i ran the 700 in my v6 car i did the same thing , blow one up put in the backup and rebuild the original while the spare as in the car , then id run the spare till it started t slip then swap in the one i just rebuilt etc etc

This one has a brake which I'd love to use but it's so hard to budget 200p-2500 for a direct swap 8.8 12 bolt or 9 inch. Id like to build a 8.8 swap but havent got there yet. I know I'm on borrowed time with the 10 bolt. The only thing I think saving me is my 3.23 gears, it's got every thing you can get for it (including c clip elims) and the fact I rarely pull anything under 1.70 60 foot. Although I did pull alot of 1.64-68s in a row for a whole 3 day weekend. About 15 passes and it didn't cause me too much concern.

Here is some info on the cavalier. Unfortunately he had issues all week with it and only had one 12 second pass that I know of for the week.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Well on sept 20th my mom passed away from stage 4 lung cancer. It was a long week and weekend to say the least. But shes resting now and not suffering anymore which helps us all.
Last week while i was back arround my home town i droped off some rods with pistons on them to level performance. I had them look to see if the rods were in ok shape or not... turns out 3 of the 6 were slightly bent. I dont know how long they were like that but you could barly see it, so it wasent bent alot. But when I think of the abuse they have taken i guess it happends, exspecially when i was shifting at 6500-6700 all day long at the track when I went.
Considering.....
"12515767 --- Connecting Rod
This forged steel connecting rod is used in all V6/60o Chevrolet engines. It has a 5.700" center-to-center length.
Technical Notes: Production rods are suitable for off-highway V6/600 engines which operate at a maximum engine speed of 7000 RPM...."
I need to start keeping my rpms down and i would imagine if I did bend them myself the 12.5:1 compression with a load of boost is a cause for them to bend a little...

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Gm rates them to 7k rpm but also I read at one time that it was 400 hp too.
I made 370 whp and 470 tq and never shifted over 6k rpm with stock compression. 3 rods bent. I am guessing the tq is what bent mine and not rpm

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
I had the Machine Shop friend also look at the low compression motor that I ran for three years. Those rods were fine straight as an arrow. I'm assuming that the other bent set got bent because of the high compression engine along with boost. I will say though stock rods do handle a lot. It's amazing that that 3 year old motor lasted as long as it did. Easily 250 passes on that set up.

I started welding my rear support plates today I had a few minutes to spare so I layed down a few quick beads. I know they could look better but I didn't want walk the cup and only had 3/32 mild filler.
It's going to take me alot of hrs to finish welding up this cage.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
u should really mig weld those plates down or do u only have a flux core mig?
theres alot of undercut in those welds id make a econd pass on them and wait till u got some thicker filler wire before tig welding the rest

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
But I won't mig weld it. I just don't trust a mig weld like a tig because I've done alot of bend tests in my days on pipe. And a mig will fail alot of the time unless you preheat it. Gmaw just isnt very good at penitration at the beginning of the weld. tig root weld and tig out will rarely fail because you see everything in the weld and it's so much easier to break down in the base metal. Some of that undercut you see will happen regardless of angle, speed, amps, arc gap, and fillers because of the thickness of metal compared to the fillers. I'll 2 or 3 pass it and it'll fill in nice I'm sure.
I've seen some really nice but also some down right awful mig welded cages at the track before that even had a cert.. more like a deadly weapon of you wreck then a safety decive.. lol

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
I planned to 2 pass everything. It took me like 15 min to weld a whole 6 inch plate down with the first pass.... that's 24 inches of weld

Finally got the converter. Excited to finally run a custom converter. Dont get me wrong though the freakshow i used for 2 years was great for the price. It really did well. But its time to step up the game a bit and help me get those consistent 60 foots i want, and also be able to spool up the turbo faster but yet keep the converter tight up top. Im sure I will really enjoy this converter once I get to use it. Im tired of the old cheep and fast route that Ive been playing for the past 5 years.
Another great thing is the converter only has the smaller bolt pattern for the th350 so i wont have to notch out the pads and get it balanced to clear the starter like before.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
I know the rods aren't the best but they are rated at 600hp. Way more then what I'll make and the cost was pretty resonable. Said and done a set of 6 rods ready to roll cost 380 bucks. ..the pistons though. Outragous.....
Thanks for the link though. Hopefully someone picks them up.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
I'm in the process of building 2 motors. One being a stock rod crank hyper piston 9.6:1 comp engine. 3.4/3400.
Clearences mains at .0028-.003 even
Clearences journals at .002 even.
I like to clearence the bearings long ways and across them as well to make sure I don't need my block line bored.
Gapped top ring at .021 and middle at .026
MLS gaskets head studs...exc
This will be a boosted engine going into the blue camaro. Just some Speed pro pistons hypers. Shoot peen rods.
The 2nd engine will have dimond pistons scat forged I beam rods and stock crank. 10:1 comp Head studs mls gaskets exc. That will be going into a roller camaro I'm hopefully picking up soon. The plan is to run the trans brake transmission and a modified 8.8 rear.
Doubt it will be done by spring but the blue camaro will be and hopefully be a reliable 11.0-11.50 pro car. 2 step msd 4 plus box roll cage..exc.

Yea same here
The cranks smooth though, looks rough but it's fine no diviots. I had the other crank polished though for the forged engine. Nice and pretty..

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Update 6pt cage is about finished. Just finished up wiring up msd dis 4plus. Nice little box reminds me of the 6 plus I had before
Hopefully mateing the engine to trans this week. I have to grind away some of the bell of the trans for the bolts and she's ready to be dropped in.
Pics to follow shortly.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Oppd yea ive been doing a total remodel of my kitchen for the past few days. Litterly everything so I haven't journeyed outside in the garage for much..lol trust me pics will be up when I get a chance to go and take them.
I finished all my cabinates. Put in a a new countertop. Faucet. Sink Backsplash on the way with tile floor..exc.
My wife and I are looking to sell our 1st home that we have lived at for almost 5 years but need to do some updating first I'm excited for our next home. Yes big garage and a lift will be there..

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Trust me my next house will have a lift. I would have one now but there is no point in pouring cement in a 30x50 poll barn when you know you are going to sell it and move in the next year or less.
I just want to finish wireing the thing. I havent wired up the dis4 plus box yet. Its so tiny and i want to find a place to put it else then on the floor next to where my ecm has been for the past 5 years....

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Update
I swore I took pics of the roll cage but obviously not.. lol I can't find them on my phone so I'll take some soon.
Haven't done much to the car but the engine is ready to toss in and I ground the new hughes trans so its ready to go in with it.
I have a tubular th350 x member with drive shaft loop and a tubular adjustable tq arm to also go into the car.
My goal is to get the engine back in by the 1st of the year so I'm not chaining my tail in the spring time
Anyone ever wire up a msd4 plus to dis ignition before? I plan to wire mine up so durring pro class I can tune a transbrake and the 2 step to limit me. And also have a retard when using n20 which hopefully I don't need to use any more having the new ptc converter unless I need to "spray, slide, and get, behind".. lol at the end of the track.
Happy early turkey day everyone!!

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
I just have a few welds i want to run a 3rd pass on(using 3/32 since its welding to sheet metal in some areas) Then the 4 pt is welded up and tight ready to roll. I want to weld on the gussetts for the 5pt harness and also a cross brace in the back on the main hoop.
I want to leave it as a roll bar 4(5)pt for this year. Since I dont plan on going any faster then 11.0 at a best anyways I feel much safer with this, and it it goes faster then I will add in the extra door bars at that time with swing outs. But for now running mid and high 11s i just want a roll bar and a 5pt harness for some added safety and so that I can go 11.0 legally. I would like to toss the door bars on but i need to find out exactly how low I can have them. If i can have them lower so that i dont need swing outs and so its easier to get into the car then thats fine and i may do that. I need to go over the rule book again. Its been a few months since i have and i forgot alot of the specs the nhra wants.

Re: Fasteddis Turbo 3.1/3100 Hybrid
Thanks 6.
Definitly have to add in that door bar on the drivers side. That will make me legal to 10.00. Which that car will never see. But it would look stupid with one and not the other pass side as well. Also my helment is going to exspire. Snell 2005. Damm the money never stops flying out the door for racing.. lol
