G'day people

Hi guys and girls, I have a small issue and can not seem to research it fully.
I am in Australia and have imported a 83 Trans Am (Knight Rider) and am wanting to instal a electronic hatch release. I have a universal one (Steelmate) and can not see how or where to connect.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I will try add pics also

I doubt that this is original hatch fitted.

Hatching An Idea

You didn’t state the model # therefore this info is slightly generic.

We will assume the hatch release on you universal unit is
+ pulse.

If so, you will need a relay to convert the unit to a
pulse.

If your Bird is equipped presently with an electric release but with no remote capability, use a voltmeter to probe both sides of the present hatch release switch.

Does the voltage go to or stay at zero when you activate the switch?

If yes, connect the relay output across the stock hatch switch.

Happy Racing !
