Ram air 2 hood doesnt fit
(Bought from private seller)
Ok seen tons of post on here about the ram air 2 hood not fitting correctly and im on to take this challenge to make it fit what has everyone done to make it sit lined up with the front bumper so far i have removed the hood stops up front.
From what it looks like when i removed the turn signals to see it comes in contact with the upper radiator support is this hood not made correctly will i have to cut fiberglass out to make it fit ive seen a few cars on google and even hawks firebird and they made it fit correctly.
So people with the ram air 2 hood let me know how u made yours work and have no gaps up front by the bumper

Re: Ram air 2 hood doesnt fit
I got an extra pair of hood hinges and enlarged the holes allowing them to slide forward enough to close the gap. Also don't forget not to use the stock steel hood pistons. They are designed for a heavy steel hood and will put too much stress on your fiberglass hood when you close it. I pinned mine because the sides would rise up when going down at highway speeds. I also used a hood spring from an older Buick because the stock hood spring is not bolted to the hood.

A set of these hood pistons are designed for a fiberglass hood. I recommend these as I got the same and they work amazingly well and don't stress the hood when you lift or close it.

Re: Ram air 2 hood doesnt fit
Ok bump for everyone kinda got the hood to sit alittle bit better my main concern now is that i stripped out both holes on the passenger side of the hood where it bolts to the hinge i was wondering what i can use to secure it with bolts was wondering if helicoils will work just as fine

Yea dont think it has a metal insert in the fiberglass looked in the hole and didnt see threads so I think they threaded threads into the fiberglass but i guess if u go to tight it pulls those threads out so how do i go about installing the inserts

Re: Ram air 2 hood doesnt fit
Ty can tell it has the metal inserts but the two rivets holding it to the fiberglass. Well at least the one I got had them. Also o don't think helicoil would work on fiberglass. My suggestion? Where the holes where that you stripped out. Get a piece of metal for backing drill a hole in it and tap it (if you want otherwise just have a bolt for the back) That what you can have a backing. Also.... Can we see pictures of the locations of holes used for mounting the hood to the car?
