Not my car, don't know the seller, just sharing it for information.

yeah right. prototype? prove it. It's probably just a 1986 Camaro ASC conversion. Just because ASC made the conversion prior to being contracted by GM to do, doesn't make the car a prototype.

Car: basic third gens
Engine: that I like
Transmission: to restore
Axle/Gears: and enjoy
Re: 1986 IROC Convertible Prototype
Besides the story that is likely bogus, I like the car. I'm partial to that color combo (and it's harder to find) and ASC did the best looking convertible conversions. I'm curious as to what the seller wants for this "prototype" car.

Well, the price is right. Although I might offer him $0.95 for it just so I'll feel like I got a good deal.

I will never understand why people dont put prices down when selling stuff.
That car might be worth $3K at most depending on the condition of the body. How hard is it to fix the seatbelt retainers and install the dashpad to get better pics for your ad? Not that he is trying to go for a 100% orignal car but Im pretty sure that is not the OEM alternator. Looks like one from an LT1 car.

It even has a 306 engine. That 306 was also a special prototype engine where they added an extra cubic engine.

Bogus story? most likely but what if he has documentation to prove it was a GM car? that would be cool and if he doesn't, its still cool. Alt looks normal to me.
New paint, car needs finished, I dig it.
