Car: 1989 Trans Am

Transmission: 700 R4
Anyone wanna help a newbie?

I have surface rust from rear wheel wells to under ground affects(those things hide the rust) to front wheel wells. Looking for a step by step the right way to get it to perfection, any input will help can include pics tomorow

It really depends on how bad the rust is. You might be able to sand it out or sand blast it, but it might require cutting out the rusted metal and welding in new. If you post some pics we could give you a better idea but even then it can be hard to tell how bad it is until you start grinding into it.

It looks like its past the point of just grinding out the rust. You might have luck sandblasting it out but I bet once you start grinding on it you'll find that its rusted straight through. Thats what happened to me and in two spots. If thats the case you either have to cut it out and weld in new metal.

I took a screw driver and tested the metal on the area, the whole rocker is solid that bigger spot is the bolt that holds on the ground affects
