Not even going to talk price but it looks like it would be the easiest fit and would be the best design to work from.

Pretty much a copycat of Mercedes benz common 5-link rear suspension that has been out of a few decades. You can find them in the junk yards at about 1/10th the price you'll pay for the AM overpriced and overengineered stuff. With that said, why on earth if the top camber arm bent and double bared into single mounts inner and outer? makes no sense.
Here is the Merc 5 link. I own a car with one of these. Very nice geometry.

Just another fabricator stealing someone else's design.
ps- the upper curved camber arms are for frame clearance when trying to use this in an old school hotrod with frame rails. This rear suspension was designed for unibody cars. The exhaust will clear right under neath the center with plenty of ground height clearance since it is an independent rear suspension. The diff is fixed.
This is the reason I built a c-class Mercedes for my next play street car. This is beautiful suspension geometry from the factory and I only had to do a little bit of modifications to correct things when I lowered the car. The weakest link I have right now is the rubber bushing holding the rear subframe to the chassis- I will be milling aluminum bushings for this in the near future. I am currently putting a 6 sp manual into the car that I picked up from Europe- very crappy few choices in US spec cars from mercedes. This is the same suspension multilink setup used in the Mercedes DTM race cars.
This is a shot of my car.
It is a w202 Brabus. One of two I know of in the entire country. This kit is very rare.

Being melodramatic again slicktrackgod? Would love to see you tell AME their just stealing other peoples designs..lol. Engineers couldnt possibly come up with the same solution to the same problems.
But yes, I see the similarities and identical nature of the setup.
BTW, teh AME version uses the newer Camaro center section and can be had with the SS, Z28, or ZL1 center sections.

I'm still waiting for testing to conclusively show that an IRS system is going to perform better on the track (autocross, road race) than a solid axle.

Some would argue predictability over conformity. Either way, I'd love to do some testing of my own ;P ;P

Here is some IRS testing. The Heidts/Hawks Silverstreak third gen came in second for the whole Super Chevy Shootout event, beat only by the roadster shop Rampage which is over a $500,000 full race car. It was in a field of other purpose built Pro Touring cars.
Silverstreak has no roll cage or chassis mods other than frame connectors. This is a car anyone can go and purchase the same parts and build.

Why try to make the Art Morrison fit when this one already does?

Heidts IRS adds about 100lb of weight, which in itself isn't too bad..BUT most of it is sprung weight unsprung weight is reduced...and remember you are adding a ford 9" the housing is alu but the 3rd member is cast iron . if you used an alu 3rd member the extra weight would be much less

Actually I have used the art Morison set up before.. American has a thing for using corvette or Camaro parts.. there independent rear is a 5th gen third member as well as 5th gen spindles and if I remember correctly actually the entire rear end is based off of the 5th gen rear end

I've thought for a long time that the 5th gen rear could be modified (and naturally our car modified) to be used in a third gen. I actually think that because it has its own subframe that this kind of setup is better than the C4 setup, because all you need to do is tie the IRS subframe into our subframe to have more rigid support for the rear end.
