This thread is for September 2016 COTM **Nominations**PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE COTM NOMINATION RULES BEFORE PROCEEDING TO NOMINATE A MEMBER’S RIDE FOR COTM. REMEMBER, WE MUST PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE CONTEST SO THAT THE MOST DESERVING MEMBER WINS.
This thread is a Nomination Thread to nominate cars that will compete for this month's Car of the Month honor. The 12 (or less) most popularly nominated cars will be compiled into a *Voting Thread* in a couple of weeks. If you do not nominate a member's car for COTM, you can still second or third (fourth, fifth, so on) someone else's nomination. Cars must have at least a second nomination in order to make the Voting Thread.
Do not nominate your own car. Your car must be nominated by another TGO Member.
Do not ask your wife, husband, friends, extended family, etc. to register as TGO Members for the purpose of nominating your car.
Do not nominate more than one car.
Do not use multiple member accounts to nominate your own car or to nominate multiple cars.
This is not a picture thread. Post only one (1) good photo of the car you wish to nominate. Do not use a photo-edited picture.
You must post a picture with your nomination. This must be a full-sized picture (or at the very least, a pic or thumb that enlarges into a full-sized picture when you click on it).
Correctly identify the user name of the member who you nominate.
Correctly identify the year and model/trim of the car you nominate.
Do not nominate cars that are not in a high quality, finished state.
And if you are nominated, please DO go out and take an abundance of good quality photos of your ride (multiple angles, interior, engine) and make them publicly accessible (for example via a photo album in your public profile or some sort of hyperlink to your photo album.)
*****This Month's Criteria*****
BONE STOCK Any Bone-Stock 1982-92 Camaro or Firebird. Stock Appearance. Stock Performance.
Someone looking for a car to nominate, TkernIROC1986 has a beauty! This looks like it might be top notch quality this month. Getting tired of seeing all the overly modified and "modernized" cars! Or maybe im just getting old and grumpy lol

Thanks DonW but my 86 IROC is anything but bone stock, it's been made to look that way, but it isn't. The color is a custom blue, darker than the original, and the 305 is gone, replaced with an L98 350 out of a vette and made to look like it belongs there. The interior and everything in there is bone stock, right down to the tape deck. I just kinda made my own 350 IROC out of an 86 with a good body, not completely stock, but better than the way it left the factory. I really do appreciate the kind words though.
That's right... Almost forgot!
I couldn't help myself either. I have an L98 from a 90 model vette waiting patiently on my engine stand too. I don't blame you Here's to hoping Arnold brings home a win

Very nice! Looking forward to seeing it installed! Wishing Arnold good luck as well, and Scotts "new" pace car is awesome too! People need to find more pristine examples to nominate! This thread should be full of nominations! Go over to the COTM bait thread and find more cars people...geez...
I agree Travis. Tons of very nice cars on this website and we see the same 2 or 3 every month it seems.
That's because there are 3 to 5 cars that fully deserve to win but never do because, like a wet t-shirt competition, people rush to vote for the car with the biggest, uh, um, intake plenum.
Maybe another criteria for Linson is cars that have been nominated 3 of the prior 12 months and have several of those criteria a year so those cars get their due recognition.
(I think another criteria is you have to have owned your car being nominated for a few years.)

Exactly. Thats why this is not the first time I've nominated Gaspeddler's 15,000 mile car. This will be the third time ive nominated it or at least seconded it. Its a stunning car that deserves a win, but has never been COTM to my knowledge, but Ive seen cars this year win that didnt even run at the time they won and had sub-par paint jobs!

That's a good way of putting it! Lol! I can really appreciate the modded cars, especially the well crafted ones. But when they're lumped in with stock cars, they'll win every time. Not a good or bad thing, just the way it is.

I agree. Ive voted for that particular car several times myself. One of the nicest ive seen on the website. I vote for a stock car 99 times out of a hundred. I also respect a well done modded car like we saw win last months competition. Lots of cars I see on this website deserving of COTM or atleast making it to the ballot. Its good to see several different ones to choose from this month. Every one ive seen nominated is a winner in my book.
Read the rules, please. aside from a good picture and the correct user name (which i think you covered), i also need the correct year and model/trim level. i can see that its an IROC-Z, but i cant tell what year. i need the that information for the **Voting Thread**.
I thought Stuart S has these: 1987 Flame Red Metallic Trans Am LB9/WS6
1989 Gunmetal Metallic Trans Am GTA
So its Stuart S's reddish 87 TA that has been nominated here?
this is why those things need to be clear in the original nomination. i can't make assumptions and i can't know who everyone is.

First, know this. perception is not always reality. this is my 28th COTM. that's 27 before this. 12 out of those 27 (almost half) have been bone stock or nearly bone stock. that does not count high performance sleepers which only appear stock. left to their own devices, it seems to me that overall, the members here tend to nominate and elect a fairly diverse cross-section of stock and modified Camaros and Firebirds.

I always welcome new ideas on ways to keep COTM interesting. but this...no. while i'm running COTM, there will not be a month where its basically set up to be a coronation for those guys who get nominated every other month because a few cats "strongly feel that they deserve the recognition of winning". those guys are getting due recognition by being nominated every month. and this isn't a knock on those guys, but you might consider the possibility that their chances of winning are actually decreased through a certain amount of "______-fatigue" from seeing those same cars about every month.
(I think another criteria is you have to have owned your car being nominated for a few years.)
sorry if it seems like i keep chopping you off at the knees here, because your input is wanted. but, again, no, on this suggestion for a couple of reasons. I do see your point, that it seems hollow when a person purchases a vehicle, and then wins COTM a month later before really "making that vehicle their own." but the more important question is "does this car represent the Third Gen platform in a way that is a credit to the Third Gen Community?" if it does, then it is of less importance how long the owner has had the car. at any rate, most of the time, the owner has built the car or has had it for a long time.

fair point about the car that didnt run at time of its win, although, as i remember it, it was purportedly set to be back on the road before the voting was over (didn't turn out that way), and it was a car that was getting a new combination of parts installed - not an incomplete project per se. and the paint didnt look bad to me, so i'm gonna go ahead and defend that turbo-six-RS.
I see nothing but winners again this month.
Every one ive seen nominated is a winner in my book.
its true. only one member can win each month. and its not always the one that i think is best, nicest, or most deserving. winning COTM is a nice bonus, but the outcomes are unpredictable. being nominated is the recognition that you have a top tier Third Gen.
In defense of Linson, my 87 IROC-Z has been nominated many times over the past few years, but I've never won. And to be honest, I don't care if my car wins. To me, it's obvious, that a poll among peers, where my car was nominated, but didn't win, means that there are other cars that are equal or better than mine. I don't like going to car shows where I'm guaranteed a trophy. I prefer the win when there is tough competition, and my car was selected as the best of the group. Every time I've lost here, the other car had, I think, considerably more votes than my car. That means that their car appeals to the masses more than mine.
Having a COTM for cars that have been nominated and didn't win, is not the way to go. I would request to be removed from that month's list.
Also, having the car for a period of time makes sense, but Linson also clarified his stance. If that requirement was made because I just acquired my '82 Pace Car, I can be removed from this nomination. However, just so everyone knows, the car has been in my family for 15 years and I've put a lot of time and effort into this car over the years to be sure it qualifies for top end shows. It belonged to a member "rbmmet" that joined 12-25-2006. He was a lurker, but a 10 year member of TGO.

I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures you post of this car. Very interested in seeing the underside too.

Not to continue running on this but I chuckled when I read this. While I personally give "Kudos" to every individual working on their cars and making them their own,I cannot even guess how many "Project Car" threads I am following. There seems to be a lot!! Might not be a bad idea!
