2000 is cake walk with the right motor lol probably get there under 25 psi
Modern era of performance is making the impossible, possible. Its just the transmission and 25.5 safety i am worried about. But those will come in time

True, but in a world with 60-mph speed limits, and stop and go traffic, as well as only x amount of horsepower needed to catapult a vehicle at x amount of weight to any particular number... it has since been down to a science. My only concern would be the constant need of pedaling when overpowering the street, but then again EBC and torque control to the rescue. Very glad you went BBC and avoided the LSX route.

Thats part of the ultimate plan. It should be 800-1000 whp on very little boost for street use. Hell it may be 750-800 crank on motor alone. Car is fine at that level. Better boost control and hopefully traction control will be in my future.
Track will hold the power even on small tire. On the good prep days. I dont need 2000 hp to run what i need to run to be competitive around here, but its nice to have it and cool number to achieve

Lol it will be a while. Best case scenario is have motor running this year as all motor deal to tune the new efi system which i have not finalized. I have to sell my 91 car to afford it all haha

What ecu are you planning on? Did you retain the 24x stuff from the sbc?
#14
Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
Block is a mark iv style dart So no 24x system. If it was gen 5/6/7 i think, i could use 24x i believe.
I will end up using external crank trigger 60-2 and either my current 1x cam dizzy or 4x dizzy efi connection has. Ecu likely will be holley or ms3 pro. But still open on that
Will use lsx coil packs and upgrade to the aftermarket smart coils. I'll need the spark energy

Hey Orr, EFI connection is supposed to be coming out with 24x Gen iv stuff next spring. (according to their website)
I am doing a NA MPFI L29 build myself, with the 411 24x stuff. I am kind of stuck on the intake, I don't know how well the carb type intakes will work with the 411 computer.

I have been messing with the 411. It looks decent to me.
What don't you like about it?
What kind of wheel options do you have for this engine? You could do a converter box that takes in the wheel you have and generates the 24x tooth pattern.

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
I'm sure ms3 pro does as well. Been awhile since i looked at its feature list.
I had some issues getting my sbc to start consistantly with the 24x efi connection setup so i wish to avoid that. But that may have been partially to blame on a loose reluctor ring
Still up in the air on dual injector banks. Current manifold doesnt seem to have room for a second row of injectors unless its under the elbow. If i sell and refab an intake with 16 inj, a efi system to handle that will be nice

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
I agree with your thoughts on the 411. I have gone back and forth with playing with the BDM interface to modify the code, and designing piggyback hardware that takes in the 411 injectors pulses and 24x signal. It then spits out "new" injectors pulses and coil pulses upon reading the boost MAP sensor. It can also read 8 other inputs and sync them to the 411 output via the rpm received from the 24x sensor. Still a work in progress, but I understand the limits of the 411 you mentioned.
I was messing with a little nissan v6 motor that needed more fuel. I made a 1" spacer that sits between the intake and throttle body. Not sure how much room you have, but you could put in 4 to 8 injectors in a spacer. That will give plenty of fuel. I am using some cheap $10 Arduino hardware with non-Ardruino code to control the injectors but you could easily have the Holley or MS3 control them.
I was not a fan of the old Holley stuff, but like the new stuff. MS3 is well MS3, they are trying to get there but is taking a long time for a $1000 system. I love the fact that the code is easily changed.
Yes, any movement in the ring or sensor will cause problems.

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
I've done some internet searching on figuring similar setup.
The high Z 2000 injectors have a much better pattern at 70# base than 43.
It's like multecs to siemens difference. -flow tests can be found on u tube for whatever brand you choose. I think i searched on FID2000 injector or billet atomizer.
Found one where they changed pressure.
Since it's a street car, consider running 16 injectors. 8 2000's will get you to 2100+ at 70# and 80% dc on e85 by the math.
I'm looking at 8 1700's on E85 and 8 80's on meth and no intercooler. 1600+ max for twin small 72's. -similar to your old setup.
Works out to ~30% meth by injector size. 80/240
The meth would be for track use only. Or a roll race.
This is cheaper than a 2000hp a/w up front cost.
What fuel pump are you planning? Sounds like mechanical if E85.
A single electric won't do it on e85.
MS3 pro has 10 Hi Z inj drivers. Last two will work in bank.
Holley HP has 8 but will work in waste "fire" mode.
Dominator will do 16 - I didn't look to close since it's about $1000 more than a gold box w/ WB if you don't need all the I/O.
The HP is about 400 more than gold box but will do Lo Z.
It's ~ $400 to add on I/O to the gold box via can bus comms.
This might be a cheaper route if you want to run 8 egt's for fueling safety monitoring.
I haven't fully checked this part out yet. I can't swing $2600 up front for a dominator setup.
The LSU 4.9 wb only goes to .68 lamda on the kits I found. Around .72 is for E85 max power. If running lots of meth you'll need to swap to an ntk sensor setup. (twice the price)
Wallace site has afr converter for most fuels. You have to know what lamda or afr is needed for your fuel and power.
The old 4.2 wb is being phased out. GM has been using the 4.9 for many years I read.
Goggle LSU 4.2 vs 4.9.
What intake do you plan? I haven't looked for it. But I don't recall seeing a stock single plane at that power level. Seen a few heavily modified ones. Excluding the 2 pc lsx ones....
So many details at that power level....
Can you tell me what parts you had in your T400? I'm looking at starting with a combo similar to a rossler lvl 2 and upgrade few parts later so I'd have a lvl 3 for ph 2.

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
Correct i believe fid2000's will support 2000 on a base pressure of 70-75 psi.
Planning on a belt drive style mechanical mounted in rear with a cable drive off the front. Havent quite figured it all out yet
Intake has a custom fuel rail system on it with a special bolt down section of aluminum welded on, which takes up alot of space. Doing the 16 injector deal would be difficult. I'm looking into it. If i dont go e85, then i'll be fine. Or if i dont use e85 at full power, i'll be fine with fid2000's. Heck i might beable to run my fic/bosch 127 lbs at high base to make it work on gas.
My th400 is nothing special. It has upgraded clutches/bands and i believe my local builder said he put in an extra number of clutches in the high gear pack or something like that. I dont know for certain. Shafts and gears are oem th400. I am surprised it held. But i kept tranny fluid cool.

I know its added cost but the dominator will do traction control and alot of other things. Since you know holley its an easy system to get into. Im going to run low impedance 66lbers from holley. I dont see why 120s or 160 holleys wouldnt be ideal on yours.

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
No idea, we'll see where it ends up at some day lol its gonna take some time to get everything done right. Goal is to get it running low power on current trans and rear end i guess. Cage wise i wanted to add the 10 pt bars but we'll see

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
We have not had problems with large high z injectors on variety of motors. Fic 127 lb in my car are amazing. Run fine at idle. My buddy uses fid2000's but its e85, 414".
Alot of 4 cyl and 6 cyl imports in the 600-1000 whp range have run id2000's and similar high z's just fine as well.
New tech high z stuff seems to work well at low pulsewidths now

- on the edge needing a billet drum-
On YB LosLS2 has a good thread on figuring his setup out.
I plan on getting the whole setup from Waterman for mine.
BBC is easy since they already sell brackets for it and it has the holes on the block in a easy spot. - your pics are making me miss my bbc stuff.
Filters are the biggest issue if you worry about them. Gas is easy. Alcohol and efi is a little different.
Do you still have your .68 68mm turbine housings? for sale?
I'm not sure if a 364 will spool twin 7268's w/ .81 housings.

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
My Siemens 60's have an open time of 1.14 msec at 14 volts, and a close time of .85 msec. (http://www.siemensdeka.com/product/6...fi114961-60mm/)
Obviously this made idle a pita to tune when I was running 1 squirt, all 8 injectors, per revolution as my required fuel put my pulsewidths around 1.9-2.2 msec.
You are running 8 injector SFI right?, so I'm assuming your idle pulsewidths are probably in the 3s ? I think a lot of guys having problems with large high-z injectors are still doing batch fire like me.

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
I last ran sfi but had them in 730/$59 as well. I have to look at the logs to see what pulses were but i can tell you it wasnt that high, probably mid 1.x.
I'll be using sfi again on the bbc just not sure what system. I wanted to do crank trigger 60-2 and then lsx style coil packs. Likely the hot smart coils, they are good for the power

Re: What I have been up to -- teaser
Right now I'm doing alternating back fire to double my pulsewidths, but I think in a forced induction application it could blow the fuel into adjacent cylinders and cause problems.
I'd prefer to run simultaneous batch (i.e stock '730 $8D) so if there are better injectors that would do it I'll go that route. If not maybe I'll go carb hahaha
Good luck with the build. Looks exciting.
