Re: what are you using your ashtray for
Mine just holds air.
For my loose change I found these for the center console. They are a PERFECT fit, drop about half way in, then wedge themselves in, without messing up the console, and easily slide in and out, yet they won't move while driving, no matter what you try! No digging through change, to find the coin I need. The opening are spring loaded, so simply sliding the coin back, gets one out. Holds about 20 coins, in each slot.

Re: what are you using your ashtray for
Thread necromancer you say?
I accidentally found this thread looking for the bulb number for that little useless light under the dash near the vents (74 BTW). But I got a few good ideas here. I guess I've never actually considered using it for anything other than spare change and unidentified screws that will never find their right home again
So, thread ressurected after nine years! What new things have people been using their ashtray for lately?

Re: what are you using your ashtray for
I fitted a piece of plastic and have switches in there for the amp kill(for when the kids are in the back seat), fog lights, horn(stick or Dixie, like the General Lee), extra interior lights, and possibly undercar neon(undecided on that), manual radiator fan backup, 2 spare switches just in case I come up with some other ideas, and a pair of USB ports from an old car charger for my phone & iPad.
I took out the cigarette lighter a few years ago and installed a push button start there instead. I'm another one that keeps their phone between the console and ebrake.
