4th gen door speaker plastic into 3rd gen kick panels

Gonna do it, just not ripping my original 84 kick panels.Plastics from a t/a.Currently using bose kick panels, but the small spkr is barely audible...so.

Another angle.Like it better.

RH rotated to match LH, like this one best, least obtrusive.

Preview, will cover in matching carpet afterward. Comments? Anyone done it already?

You'll want that tweeter pointed to the dome light from both sides. High frequencies have a narrow cone, like a laser, for sound travel. Low frequencies have a wide cone, like a flood light, for sound travel. So the mid (for simplistic sake) isn't as important for directionality as the tweets.

I thought the BOSE kicks left little/no room on the 'dead pedal' !! ( I'm driving a stick - so I've got a lot less room to give up !! )

It kinda' looks like the front corner of the door would be a better fit for those 4th gen 'boxes',...... I remember the early-Mid 80's Caddys had a carpeted BOSE box that would fit pretty well right about where the cup-holder would be mounted. I was going to use them but opted for the cup-holder instead. ( 8 speakers is enough !! )

I thought about that, but it puts the thick side facing out.Makes me think ill hit with my shoe getting in/out.I would definitely need the trim that high corner if I go that route.

As for the door, ive got my GTA cup holders there. Not giving those up.Ive seen those bose door speakers on the caddys.Ive never cared much for them. They look heavy & bulky. The kick panel seems a perfect place to put them.

What if you switch the pod sides, pass to driver/driver to pass. Then give them a 35 degree twist. Would place the tweet decently, woofer better than in pic, and would put the high corner to the front.

Like this? requires a bit more cutting. With the tweeter on top, regardless of variation.Output will be blocked by the hush panel.

Ya, kinda like that. Looks like the angles on the front side just don't wanna line up properly and keep the visible side lined up too. If they do fit in the car that way, you might be able to find adjustable tweeters that fit that will rotate to point better. Compromise between usability and functionality somewhere, hope one of the various ways works good for you.

Yeah, Its not the most ideal set-up, but Im willing to compromise for some foot space & ive got a couple ideas to make it work.Just cant bring myself to buying Q-logic panels.

You might be better off, just not using the 4th Gen plastics and building these from scratch.

That's what I did, and they turned out pretty good. Not too difficult to do either.

Thought about that too, but I'm still burnt out from sanding/fiberglassing on past projects.I'm just gonna cover the "hackery" with carpet material.
