Dash 6.5 vs 6.5 door speakers
I need better sound in my camaro. Its either 6.5 components in the dash or the door. Obviously the tweeter would not be in the dash.
No kick panels
Does anyone have experience with both? Wondering which sounds better.

I used a Sawzall a drill and 6.5in Pioneer 3way speakers.
The handle misses the speaker by a hair.
I can lean my leg against it and feel it thumping.
Perfect for my Old School Rock.
I also installed the Pioneer 2way 6x9s that were given to me as a gift.
The deck is a old Kenwood that still kicks butt.

I don't know what year your car is or if it has power windows or not.
I don't know if having the power windows will interfere with the installation.
Please update your profile below your username so we know what your working with.
Thank you.

You could add a wood spacer in the door to ensure your speaker clears the window and PW motor.

Re: Dash 6.5 vs 6.5 door speakers
I marked where the screws would go using the speaker cover than marked the hole to be cut out as close to the marked spots for the screws as I could get.
I wanted to be able to use the small stock steel push on clips that has the hole already that will allow the screw to thread into it.
I had to file/grind the steel next to the screw hole a little to allow the clip to go on far enough to match up to the hole I drilled.
I'm sure you have seen them.
They look like this and are made of steel.
You should be able to find them at the auto parts or hardware store.

Re: Dash 6.5 vs 6.5 door speakers
I guess that could be true, except our dash speakers are covered and the sound is bouncing off the glass.
The sound coming from my speakers has no obstruction "laying" over it.
Pure sound , no baffle, and they sound great.
Same with the rear. Totally unobstructed sound.

Fiberglass door bottoms with a sealed enclosure for the 6.5 mods and Fiberglas tweeter pods . Using focal grills wrapped in alcantara . Very happy with its sound. Crossovers are in the dash where the 4x6 use to be

Re: Dash 6.5 vs 6.5 door speakers
How much space is between the speakers and the door? Hard to tell by the pictures. Great idea with the cross overs!!
I was thinking about trying to cut a hole in my doors and mounting the speaker directly to the door.

Yes I do have power windows. I'm not sure if the manual regulator will slow room or not
