Phantom build proposal, seeking helpful comments
So, what if GM had cross-breeded a '90 or '91 454SS version of the C1500 Silverado with a '90 IROC-Z or '91 Z28?
I want to fake one with my '86, paint it glossy black, use the decals from / for the pickup's bed-sides on the car rear quarter panels, st cetera.
Before worrying about mechanical "correctness", my first concern is making it look convincing in traffic.
What would it need?
1LE brakes, obviously.
If I fake a '90, keep the IROC door stickers? Or delete them?
16x8s? 245/50R16s?
255/50R16s on the rear like the GNX?
'88-'91'vette 17x9.5" sawblades? Ronal R9s?

What stupid moderator moved this from history / originality? Phantom means making it how the factory would have. Not just looks, either, but it has to start somewhere

The best answer is that it's your car, do what you want with it. Most people don't know much about cars and most car guys don't know much about Thirdgen so as long as you make it look legit and not gaudy most people will believe it. The guys who won't will be car guys that know or own a Thirdgen but as long as you do it subtly and not gaudy they won't care. It the cars that have the auto parts store stick on chrome or stickers that give car guys a bad name.
That being said I think you'd make a mistake with putting some 90's 454 under the hood instead of a 383 or better yet an LS engine from a truck.

Re: Phantom build proposal, seeking helpful comments
If you want to make a "what-if" car then I would not use the IROC stickers.
Go with a 17" wheel
I like the idea. Not sure what your end game is for the car, but if you're planning on a daily driver or a car you want to turn I would recommend going sbc or LS. It would need to be a big block though to be "correct"

honestly, i think the idea is kind of cool. No iroc stickers, definitely..
Maybe something like this....
But "454 SS" instead of yenko...
