Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
I have two rolls of the NOS fabric. One is the brown/tan and the other is the multi shade of grey. Each roll is enough to do one full car, including door panels. Someday, I may have a car that needs it.

John,
Have you ever bought any parts from this Camaro Berlinetta website before? I've been burnt once before trying to buy this fabric off someone online. Just want to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Sid,.....
That Berlinetta website ----> is my website.
I will write you an E-Mail a little later this morning.... Just need to get some coffee into my system first, then I'll write E-mails before I get into the garage for the tranny swap on my Trailblazer.

Because it is related to the renovation of my 1984 Z28, here is a link to the L/S seat repair.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
After a few years of searching I finally found some NOS OEM 85 RED material.
Going to redo my 83/84 Charcoal seats to a custom black/red inserts. I have a total of "90 Camaros" 5 rows x 18.
I didn't buy the from a dealer, it was an individual who had this as his only fabric left.

Dude -----> I'm a dumb-*** !!
When I first saw your pics and thought it was the same bolt of fabric,... just under a different light taken for a second picture. Now I realize that you had 2 bolts of fabric and the 2 pics showed the difference !!
I just read your E-Mail,.... Don't have enough time to write back about it now - but WILL write back as soon as I get another chance to sit at my PC for awhile !!
I like the red/black idea,...it WILL be bold !! The best custom combination I've seen so far was the factory black "CAMARO" fabric with grey bolsters. I've seen it done custom several ways over the years - but the black/grey looked the best so far IMO.

Wow, love the grey. Probably an 87....if I could find the grey I would be happy. I actually have a set of nice 87 seats too. I'd like to actually have my Lear Siegler seats redone custom. I'd steal the power seat tracks off my 87 seats.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
I have a roll of the grey and a roll of the tan/brown. I figure someday I may be able to get a black car and do the black/gold theme. I wanted the grey before it was gone since the majority of Camaro interiors in the 80s were grey.

I was aware you had those rolls but figured you're into these cars to much to let go...Ha ha. I actually have an 87 ASC vert that is factory Black with gold & black interior. Since it needs paint & interior work. I was going to build it as a factory color yellow 87 with gold accents & black interior or might try to swap it to tan....
This red material is for my 89 vert that us a factory Red/ black car.

Yup and I wouldnt have it any other way
These are old pictures. I was too lazy to dig out new ones. The door panels are done to match now too.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
Great job on this thread. I could use some advice on were the best place would be to order some material to cover one or both of my front seats on my 85 Iroc, From what I read my interior is the saddle colour? which seems to be hard to find. I will also be looking for a new roof liner and carpet I would like to get as good of a colour match as possible to the rest. You can see in the pics that the carpet has been cut out and the liner removed.
Thanks for all the incredible work put into this thread.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
I thought I had some of the fabric for a saddle interior, but that looks lighter than what I have. Mine must be for the brown interior.
Is that car of yours going to get painted back to yellow again?

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
I have been considering the yellow, First on my list is the interior. I thought that I read somewhere the interior code was on the rad support. I had a quick look but everything is covered in a tar like undercoating. if anyone could post a pic of exactly where to look that would be great. I just took a guess at the saddle colour from the pics of the 85 in the beginning of this thread.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
It is saddle and it's a one year color like the other two 85 interiors. On the first post there are a few places listed that may be able to help you out with new fabric. That car would look killer being yellow with that interior again.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
Big question:
What Spectrum material is available still?
Reproduction or original from suppliers?
I have 85 Red & 83/84 Charcoal currently & working on another color as well.
I know the side bolster material is pretty much obsolete but the spectrum seems available in some colors still.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
so...I had a 1985 Buick T Type (1 step below Grand national) - my car had a Leir Seigler seat package - the T's only could have a Leir Seigler seat package....1984 and 1985....anyone know if they are the same seat with different cloth? G-Body parts still lists fabric for those cars....mentioned as a cross reference only....I always wondered if they would bolt into my 1989 TA...very comfortable seat and the Buick LS had virtually the same fabric as my 89 TA.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
I'm guessing the Buick LS seats are the same frame as the Camaro versions. I have a Buick set in need of full resto, which I'd do as Camaro. Fun to have the passenger seat adjustable. Differences I've noticed on the Buicks are the thigh support lifts higher and there is an ashtray mid center on each seatback. Of course seat tracks are different, but Camaro tracks should bolt on. I also noticed a 1/2 inch spacer in each of the Buick seat track front bolts (between track and seat) to lean the seat back.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
I've written this same type of message to MANY people over the years,... SO I figures it was a good idea to post this info here so that people can find it if they ever need it !
How to properly prepare your CAMARO fabric !!!
How to properly prepare your CAMARO fabric !!!
When it comes to the fabric; each seat will need 2 "patches" of fabric in order to re-cover the seat the same way the factory designed them. This is what a "patch" needs to look like: (Notice that the DARKEST row needs to be at the TOP of the patch. Each column of fabric from the roll will contain 3 Patches. )
To cut the fabric so that they are exactly the same as the factory design,...... low lowest row of CAMARO logo needs to be trimmed off and thrown away. Here is the factory seat; notice that the lowest row with the CAMARO logo is the LIGHTEST color ! ( Only 5 rows of CAMARO used ! ) This is true for the backrest and the seat bottom.
3 FULL rows of fabric will be enough fabric to re-cover 1 full set of seats ( Front and rear ) with 1 left-over patch. This leftover patch can be used to make door panel inserts. ( door panel inserts require 3 rows of "CAMARO" logos. )
Door panel insert:
Hope that helps !

I purchased a blue Conteur interior when I still had my '83. I found that the CAMARO insert fabric was fairly readily available. I could never find a correct bolster fabric however, and I got samples from everybody. Anyone have a source for that?

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
Classic Industries does offer a similar look solution. The bolster material is not even close to original feel of original.
Chazman. To date no one on this thread has found bolster material. It woul be easier to use a matching leather than trying to find that stuff.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
I was able to buy 2.5 yrds of Grey spectrum today as well as 4 yrd of the Tan spectrum.
There is a company in Oklahoma who just discovered they had it in their warehouse.
I bought the end of the grey. Not much left of the tan but the guy said there was 90yrd of the BLUE. He also has the brown, Charcoal (Orange) & Red. The price is right at $25/yrd.
Says it's all NOS material & has dates on the back just like the other NOS material I have.
I do have his contact info.

Re: Lear Siegler Camaro Conteur interior history
Just ordered 9 yards of the blue and of the orange from Nathan in Tulsa. He told me he still has about 40 yards of blue, 20 yards of orange and 20 yards of brown. Says he has been sitting on this for a long time and couldn't figure out how he would ever get rid of it. Then while on Facebook he noticed the large number of groups devoted to third gens and decided to try that route. The material has been flying off the shelf since then he says. If you're thinking about getting some you should make that call very soon.

I agree, after seeing what the embroider wanted to call close enough I decided to just do the digitizing myself. Their version was horrible, they tried to use a off the shelf font for it.

I have my original one to go off, sun faded a little but got a good scan off it. Working on making the file for the embroider machine now. I will post up a pick when I am done with it.
Second thought, if you can get a close up of one, wondering if the stitches were always the same.

I bought 10 yards of the tan. I'm building an 87 IROC vert in yellow & going to use the tan interior for that build. I am not going to use it all by any means. I can hook you up with some once I know exactly what I need but have enough to do multiple interiors.
