What have you used to duplicate the look of factory elpo primer?
In places where the factory elpo primer is not painted over, or receives just light over-spray leaving the elpo visible....has anyone found a product that reasonably duplicates the look of baked elpo? That very very light grey color, and an almost 20 or 30% gloss to it...never as grey, or as flat, and spray can primers.
In my case, the underside of the battery tray. It's elpo, with just a dusting of Bright Red over-spray. While no one will ever see it but me, I'd like to refinish it in a manner that visually replicates the factory finish, if possible.
Someday, I'd like to use it on sub-frame connectors, too; so that they take on the look of the rest of the floor pan around them.

I don't know exactally what your trying to match but at work we use SEM Direct to metal ezcoat to match factory ecoat. Supposedly it can spayed right over bare metal but i recommend etch priming it first. I spayed 4 different colors to show you what it looks like. From left to right it's light green, gray, olive green, and tan. They also make white, black, and brown. You can lightly dust color color over the top to match factory look.

Correct; Sometimes it matches well and sometimes it doesn't. We also have a PPG chip deck (small samples of spayed colors) of factory underhood colors that we can mix up if nothing else is matching. A paint store might have a chip deck like that, I'm not sure. If so you could have them mix you a spray can of a color thats close.

Great info. sir. And in spray cans no less. I'll bet Painters Supply, where I have purchased SEM etching primer, has or can get this. Just a few miles from work. I'll certainly give it a try. Thank you.

It's the light gray primer/base coat that you see everywhere if you've ever had the interior out of a car. Covers the underside of the floors too where the overspray isn't.
