Power seat track & trim yearly changes & differences?
Picked up a power seat track setup to install into my 83 but it had a cracked piece of trim.
When I punched in the part number, 20650179, it comes up as 89-02.
That makes me think earlier trim pieces were different, and I'd prefer the older trim for my older car. But when I look up the same part for 82-92, which is part number 20564052, it looks the same!
So, did the power seat assembly change or were there different models throughout the years? Or the trim?
20650179 89-02
20564052 82-92

The trim must've changed, my 84 looks a little different than yours. The seat track changed as well, maybe in relation w/ the trim.
Sometimes people will use whatever image they can get.Doesnt necessarily mean they are the same part.

Was just looking at your track rebuild thread and noticed your seat track looks totally different from mine, which I pulled from an 86.
Guessing the 82-92 listed trim is just a generic post from someone with later trim thinking it fits all years.
Have a pic of your trim, maybe installed? I'd prefer to get the older ones but not sure if they'll mount up right to the later track.

My 85 doesn't have the extension-like piece on the front, which from your pics seems to cover/hide a motor. IIRC, there are two different seat-track designs, early and late.

Aaaron, you have the later style track. This is the best pic I have of my seat track, but its the original 84 track. Not sure what yr the change occurred.
Plus the best pic I have of the side cover. This is also the OE 84 piece to the car.Hard to find, at least at the JY.Doubt they are interchangeable.

Those are 84 seats? They look like the 90-92 GTA ones. Weird.
Thanks for the replies. Not sure what I'll do just yet.

My late build 84 has a different power seat side/control panel.
The switches are genuine chrome covered METAL!
The panel does not wrap around the seat front or back.
It is covered in the usual GM fuzzy mousefur,
