So today I sold the remainder of my players cars, memorabilia and engines! All gone to a new home for a fresh start! I've been into these cars since I was 15 and saw the Andy Mahood #13 Kokanee car on my paper route.
Not sure what the future holds but I'll still be around!
Here is a few last pics of the stuff...

Really cool! The stamp pad on my '91 1LE is V0123 CLJ and then vin derivative. Not many days between my engine and this one. Thanks

I've never looked closely at the engine dates ... but I know they were all done in a batch. So it stands to reason they should be all within a week or so or else all identical to make inspections easier.

Mike invited me to see the cars before they left. I would have loved to have these 2 cars in my collection. Here's a photo of our cars going neck to neck at Mosport

Is the V number some sort of engine unit number or is the coding specific to the 1LE cars?
Two other 1LE numbers to add to the list:
1991 11/90 Built Z28 V1022CLJ
1991 03/91 Built Formula V0123CLJ

Here is the stamped pad on my 89 formula 350 vert.
Had to deck it, instructed the machine shop to save the VIN pad.

Question for you road racing guys - is there an advantage to having a shorter wheel base on the car or for the rear axle to be closer to the front? When I was loading up my 90 at the shop yesterday I noticed the rear axle was far closer to the front of the opening than the back.

Is it the same on both sides? I could see if you have the Right one forward and the left one is standard it might want to turn one way better than the other... I remember seeing NASCAR sprint cars like this, they would dog track to get around the corner better. In this case the right being forward I would think (could be wrong) it would want to make the car turn better to the Right, which does not make sense. As most races are left...left ... left...left.

It sure looks clean. Being the Motomaster #1 car, it was a front runner in many of the races. Took some 1st places as I recall. Should have lots of video and pics of this car in action!

Just picked up this 1990 built #58 car. Still has the original Davenport cage.
Unfortunately going to let the white (below) #33 car go.

It would be cool to re-sticker that puppy up and make it look like it did when racing.

Hey....new kid here. I was banging around the magic interweb looking for info on my Players car and found this thread. So....about 10 years ago I brought a 1991 Trans Am R7U down from the great white north to Wisconsin. 23,000k when I bought it and the only mod I could find was a radio had been added. I've always had a couple questions and perhaps this is the place to get them answered...
-How can you tell if it was raced? Be fun to track down some pics of it on track if they exist.
-Any idea on how these are doing value wise. I bought it as a "hummm, might be worth something someday". Are they?
-I've tracked it at Road America a couple of times, which lead to replaced sway bar bushings and upgraded pads. And did have to pull injectors a while back (did not try to restore any 'lost' yellow paint). Other than that, it looks to me like it's factory stock...I'm not sure this car was ever tracked in anger (see item 1 above).
Overall, just interested in adding to my knowledge of this car. Love having it in the stable (it's one of 4 TA's in the garage)...

If the car was raced, it will have signs of a rollcage being installed. Check under the floor boards for 4 holes. As well, in the back by the lower control arm where it meets the body. Usually the carpet will be cut ... but often race teams may swap interiors from year to year, so your carpet may be intact.
You can check the computer and see if the race PROM is there. Often, you can find one in the later cars as when the racing ended, the PROMS were still in those cars. The early years are tough to find.
You can send me your vin via PM and I can check and see if I've seen it before. I've been at this for a long while now.
As to value ... tough to say yet. The market for these cars is still up and coming. What I see is it has to wait a bit until the age group that "remembers" these cars gets older and has spare money to spend to recapture their youth so to speak.
I took my 1989 1LE Camaro out to a show yesterday. While not a Players car, it has Players history. It was interesting to watch and see who stopped by and read the info sheet. Usually mid to late 40's guys.
Certainly having all the right documentation will be key.
Mark.

Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
I posted up some old race footage and some footage from GM Motorsports. I'm new to using youtube but gave it a whirl. I had to mute some of the sound in one so it would not say copyright claim. Again ... pretty new to using youtube. My hope was that this stuff is pretty old and the tapes I have are pre-TV as the original screening stuff. So they were not aired on TV in this version.
Here are a couple.
The first one is the 1989 recap. Due to some music in the background I had to mute in parts. IT makes for a boring watch, but there is lots of CAR action. Especially at 6 min onward. And then around 8:15, you can listen to the cars. Great footage.
This one is the GM Marketing tape to try and get more companies to advertize with them. Some good footage here and there. Lots of talk.
As I have time to upload the original footage, I will. Some of TV aired ones I don't think I can put on youtube.

One more. A 1988 Marketing video.
I'll stop posting up links here. I think I've covered off enough for people to appreciate. I'll continue to digitize more ... just go to the Channel thing in youtube to keep up to date.
I have race footage as well ... but they are long. Unsure how best to upload those. IT would be best to create a 10 minute short.
If anyone is looking for a particular year or car, let me know and I can check what I have.

As far as marketing tapes ... I uploaded the 1991 marketing tape which would have been the last one they used. I think I titled it as 1990 1991 but really it was for the 1992 seasons. Date on the tape was 10/31/1991.

Post 'em up please! These are cool!
What some people do is cut the full race into 3 segments, titling each video "Race ... Segment 1" and then link to Segment 2 when it's over. That way you can watch the full race, but the uploading is manageable.

I due tend to forget that the '90 model year was a short one. Thanks for the reminder.

Yup some footage from 1990 which has the newer nose. The marketing tapes have a mixed bag of footage. Still cool none the less!
I'm adding more 1989 races. Then I will get to the 1990. Then maybe the 1992 ones. Its such a slooooooow process.
Mark.

Ok ... I'm done loading Videos on the Players Challenge Series Channel. 51 Videos so far. Great coverage of the 92 season - I think all races. Good coverage of the 89/90 seasons. Some of the 91. And some of the 86-88 seasons.
There is some fantastic racing to watch. The east/west shootouts are some of the best to watch. All of those cars have bumps and bruises.
If I can find races additional footage, I will upload.
If anyone wants a physical copy of the races, I can put on USB.
Enjoy!
