Love it. Incredible! How do you go about spraying the WD-40 and how often, and how long between coats? Do you worry about it hitting the under body?

I spray a good amount of it on and avoid the exhaust, then wipe it all down. Occasional 0000 steel wool on the rear end / bare parts if a rust skin starts to appear. I use it on the floors and the front end components as well. I will post more pics over the winter as I keep cleaning it up

Let's make a deal. This one is really nice. Just found out I have to do a bunch of pipe replacement on the house so this one is officially on the market. It's registered, inspected, clean and ready to go. Just turned 40k miles a few weeks back. Not perfect but better than most and just about all stock.

I had that exact year model and color combo back in the 80's. I had that pin stripe put on as well. You took me back to my youth tonight. Thanks for posting your beautiful car!

I had a black one back in the mid-80's. I can't believe I found one in this kind of shape to be honest. Just got it Thursday. I'm glad I have a few pictures of it with the original tires on it. I got them changed on Friday. It's an absolute dog, but I love it.

Just wondering....
Looks nice I have ridden in on just like it (mom was driving it) back in 82.
the louvers are a nice period correct touch. preferred tinted windows on mine back then but I respect the louvers

Probably an LG4 like my '82 had in it or possibly CFI as you mentioned. Don't think the HO was out until '83.

[QUOTE=GASPEDDLER;5995328] Yes, sir! It is the mighty LG4! I really want to take the louvers off, but they do give it such a period correct feel. I'm torn.
so is it a crossfire or HO?
Just wondering....

4bbl qudrajet carb. I agree on the louvers, but as previously posted, I'm not personally a fan of them.

I would store the louvers if you are not a fan.. keep em nice. I just think it changes the "smoothness" of the lines of the car but that's my humble opinion. and you know what that is worth...nadda

I agree completely. I am considering taking them off, but I haven't decided yet. I have been trying to get it polished up. It's a little bit better looking now, but the paint was in pretty decent shape when I got it.

I did! But, if the guy I bought it from told the truth (and I think he did), this one had been in his family since new. Allegedly, his brother bought it new, and sold it to him in 1992. That would be a funny coincidence though. I'd love to find my old one. But, we sold it to an undercover narcotics cop. I bet it's destroyed!

Re: LOW Mile (50K or less) Third Gens - post yours!
Hi,
I found this car a few weeks back and I am the second owner. It was in storage for many years. Its a 1987 Formula, 13071 original miles, 4bbl 305 engine, gray interior. Paint is original, with no marks or scratches. It has the glass T-Tops. Everything works, which to me is a miracle. I am sure I will find some problems as I put on some miles. The gentleman who had it in storage did manage to run it on occasion to keep everything lubed up.
I have wanted one of these for many years. I guess its a mid life crisis or such.
Louis

Nice find on the red 87! What is the little yellow sticker on the pass window? Is that from factory?

Re: LOW Mile (50K or less) Third Gens - post yours!
1988 Trans Am. Just found her today and bought it. Going Friday to clear the 65yr old lady's garage to get it out. I want to remove plugs and lubricate the cylinders, drain all the fluids and top off fresh, possibly send it on a flat bed to be flushed just in case? Has been started periodically but has not left garage in 9 years! Any tips on measures to take before turning the key and taking first cruise ?!?

WOW, these cars look great!
siuol: pretty car in red, great condition!
Ssglaw84: How about crank windows, no power mirrors and appears no power door locks! Really cool car and a stripper T/A. Is it TPI or Throttle Body? Would like to see a picture of the wheels...My T/A has the charcoal wheels, I believe yours does. Nice

This is what I did to mine that was in storage for a long time. Expect little things to come up as you put some miles on it. For me, after a week the alternator and a couple of belts had to be replaced. Make sure the belts are not cracked and dry rotted. 'good luck.'

Hi Louis. Thank's for the comment on my 92 Purple Haze. It is in great company with all the beautiful cars here. It's not perfect, but I intend to do some cruise nights with it, and my 87 IROC. (46000 miles but really far from stock). I think it's a good fit for now. Bill.

Thanks for the help! I want to drain and flush all fluids and follow your guidance to lubricate the cylinders, once I can confirm she's in good running order I'll probably do a car show and let the next owner break the 10k mile mark... don't think I can bring myself to turn over the 10k!

Need to see a photo of the wheels on the 88 Trans Am they charcoal gray? Enjoy the variety vs gold and black.
