BBC Turbo Headers

I am thinking of swapping out my procharger for a single turbo this winter. Does anyone know of any turbo headers that will fit a third gen camaro with a BBC? Again thinking of one large single but might consider twins.

Eh i dont think there are any that are a certain fit. There were some universal up and forward styles i think, but depends on your valve covers and master cylinder/booster location and motor plate. Stainless works has some. Ebay has some cheaper ones

that's not gonna fit on the drivers side, I haven't tried them but I tried to make something similar and it was a no go. Maybe if you have a smaller coupler on the steering shaft. I'm gonna try the astro swap in a couple weeks I'll post here if it clears up room.

Re: BBC Turbo Headers

You might have better luck looking for Cast-Iron Exhaust-Manifolds... if you are not looking to fabricate anything.

Also much of the Steel Headers that are sold for Turbocharger use, are built with the thin-wall tubing that a standard Header would use.
That material is too thin... a good amount of heat escapes, when you want as much as possible going to the Turbocharger.

The ideal Header for Turbocharger use...
would be 0.120" wall Stainless-Steel with the inside ceramic-coated, and the outside Thermal-Wrapped.
I do not expect anyone to do this other than professionals...
But the closer to something like this, the better.

Re: BBC Turbo Headers

That be one heavy header lol but durable i guess.

But regular tubing does last a fair amount of time. Some crack over time and just need to repair them. I like mild steel myself, lasts for years of normal abuse. Coating helps. but expect that it may be a wear item just like anything else and need replaced every several to 5+ years depending how much use. To be honest anyone doing a turbo bbc likely isnt using it like a daily driver street car lol But i had like 4-5 years of couple thousand miles a year driving and multiple passes in my sbc turbo deal and lasted fine. My bbc turbo car headers have 2 years on them but much limited use duty so far with the other issues i have had

Re: BBC Turbo Headers

Yes! Been thru some iterations of things to get it working more efficiently. Went from 1.32 a/r housing to 1.15 and picked up a touch more spool speed, but still not fast enough. Track has been garbage for a radial car and im still tuning suspension but it just doesnt boost fast enough.

so ordered some vband 1.0 stainless housings to try. Got them on but also lost the transmission so just got trans and converter back. Havent gotten them in yet to test. Went from a stock 2.48/1.48 gear ratio th400 to 2.10/1.41 setup so should help the leave abit. I want it to leave on 5 lbs atleast and come in faster than it does now. I can leave on 3-4 and it wont reach 23 lbs til start of 2nd gear... not that the track will hold it but i want the capability there so i can control it with the AMS controller or holley Boost if i go that way
