p600 blow through

i bought a blow through kit frpm pro-charger about two years ago for my (carburated camaro) after numerous problem which i guess is to be expected from a new item, i got it all together
and initially was only running 8lbs boost and was experiencing MUCH belt slip from the 8 rib belt- - if i tightened the belt any more it would spin it off the pulley due to the weak bracketry
bending. after numerous complaints to P C they finally rediesigned the brackets (in my opinion should have been reduced cost for old bracket owners) anyway after paying somewhere in the tune of $400+ i got the new brackets
and they are much better - but i still got belt slip.
i then converted to a 12 rib setup and a 10lb pully along w/it.
well guess what - it still slips ,ive been living w/it, super tight belt tention and lots of belt dressing . procharger is telling me it
should not be slipping but it does alot.
any suggestions?

82 camaro,355,dart heads pocket ported,9:1 comp,eagle rods,
balanced,streetfirgter converter 3500,moser 9" 4.10's.
best et 10.60 @ 128 mph on 94 octane.

Hello 87_ta I'm sorry I can't offer any help with your belt slipping. I believe I met you at Keystone Raceway and wondered if you could help me out? If I remember correctley you used a Mallory reg. but which fuel pump do you use? As well as what size power valve if any, also do you have any type of modification the the throttle shafts of your carb? Thanks Jon

the blower pulley on a p600 is such a small diameter you don't have enough surface for the belt to grip.

you can get an aftermarket bottom pulley that is bigger and then buy a bigger blower pulley. but thats alot of money.

the p1sc blowers have a better stepup transmission and don't need such small pulleys, again thats alot of money

I had a p600b on a 383 with a 2.75 blower pulley I think, it produced 11psi and trashed the 8 rib belt after 5-6 full passes.

p600

HI There all,
ah to SSLE thank you for the reply to my post any help is greatly appreciated i have been fighting this thing for a while,i believe my pulley is 2.85 which i know is way to little surface area but believe there is not enough waterpump clearance for a larger bottom pulley. i have been thinking about trying to beadblast the smooth surface of the pulley - i hear it offers more traction for the belt(a mustange trick) if not that than trying to get custom cog pulleys made (pricey im sure)
but i would like to hear some info on your car setup/times ect.

to 87-GN Hi how are ya? cant picture which one was you the only GN guy i think i know by name is shawn but its cool you remembered my setup.
yes i am running a mallory regulator and also run a mallory 250
pump due to it being able to supply the 18+ lbs i need under boost, as far as the carb goes ,chock tower cut off (for carb hat to fit) nitril fillled floats so they dont collapse(but i think the stockers would be fine under 12 lbs) ive done nothing w/throttle shaft,
no o-rings or pressure equilizers holes mainly because ive experienced little to no leakage ,i get a little stain around them but nothing measurable. and i do run a power valve in the primary metering block its a 5.5 i believe i could check if you really
need to know been meaning to clean it anyway.

thanks again

I had the p600b in a 70 camaro.
the 1rst motor it was on was a 355
trw 21cc dish pistons
stock rods and crank with arp bolts
trick flow heads
1 5\8 headers
solid flat tappet comp cam 545, 563 lift blower stick
edelbrock performer intake
holley 650dp
the car ran 10.50-60's all day long at 130 with 4.10 gears and 13psi boost

the other engine was a 383
afr 210 heads
630 solid roller
super comp headers
victor jr intake
still 650 carb
eagle crank and rods
srp blower pistons
it ran 9.8-9 at 137 with 11psi boost and same blower pulley as previous setup

i probably spent more on belts with this p600 to pay for new pulleys
