My 305 turbo should be dialed in by next month end and hopefully if rob keeps up this pace he should be done at the same time. Im itching to get on my 305 NA project.

Haha, time for me to put up or shut up ehh lol? Tis gonna be pretty embarrassing when a little ole 305 makes just as much, if not more power than most, if not all of the builds on this website when I'm done, and run the numbers. The pressure certainly isn't on "me" lol...

I won't disappoint, EBL-P4 is on its' way, then the tuning finally begins. Dyno runs will more than likely be held over by Krazy House Customs in South Brunswick New Jersey, but will confirm it though with this thread when the appointment is actually made. Since I am going to dyno it naturally aspirated I need to put the 1-Bar back on it...

Actually, you can leave the 2-bar on there. Just set the 2-bar MAP flag in the calibration. ECM doesn't care if it sees boost or not. I drove my Camaro with a 2-bar MAP installed while N/A, just to check that things worked OK.

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...
2-Bar MAP is back in. I forgot that these earlier plenum's used with Mass Air Flow have no mounting threads drilled and tapped for the MAP sensor bracket, I might have to improvise and make something for it because I can't have the MAP sensor dangling all over the place as I drive. Everything is ready to go, once the EBL-P4 gets here I will literally have it in and back under the dashboard in about three seconds after I put the stock memcal in. I already made a cover for it by the way, very simple to do...

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...
For a MAP sensor bracket, look in the JY for '88 - '92 TBI cars, and the '90 - '92 MPFI cars (f-body's). The MAP sensor is mounted high on the passenger side firewall. Can get the bracket and screws, and if the vacuum line is OK, that too.

Bob, when the EBL-P4 arrives, what is the best way to get started in your opinion? Are there base calibrations somewhat close to the modifications that I made throughout this thread? Using the closest calibration, then set the spark reference to 14* BTDC, and then just do about five to six VE learns...?

EBL_P4_3004.BIN: 5.0l TPI, auto
Make some minor changes for the injector flow rate and base timing, flash it in and see how it runs. I'm not sure I'd go with a 14* BTDC for a base setting. At the most 10* BTDC, maybe 8* BTDC would work out.
VE Learns are the first thing to do once up & running. I like to first do them via the BLM mode in closed loop. This allows the ECM to adjust the fuel trims real time. Then once they are close switch to WB mode in open loop.

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...
I'll set base timing back to 8* right now after I write this, then when the EBL gets here I will flash in the same setting for the spark reference. If need be, I have a set of stock LB9 injectors that ohm good, I'll throw them in tonight if that base calibration is used with them, just to expedite the VE learn. I'll throw the 60 pounders back in when the turbo goes back on after the dyno and track session...

You sure you don't to start off with the 60lbs ones now, might make tuning easier when the turbo comes online? Plus you would get to fill out the VE in spots which you might not hit with the turbo installed.

RBob, you are, without a doubt, da man!!!! $530.00 shipped to my door, unlimited tuning, not one wire pin needing to be changed, plug it right in and go! XFI & Holley HP would have cost me close to $2000.00 after everything, and what a waste it would have been...
EBL-P4 FTW, so without further adieu let the tuning now begin...

I was going to push the 165 maf doing realtime, but considering cost to benifit, this was a loosing battle for the 165. I may still toy with the 165. Time will tell. My little budget rocket is getting out of control (thanks to mr rob). Lol.

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...
To use the EBL P4 ECM on a MAF car need to add a third connector and move nearly all of the terminals/pins.
On the '90 - '92 TPI cars the EBL P4 Flash ECM is plug & play. Unplug the current ECM and plug in the EBL P4 ECM.

EBL Install...
The following instructions were taken and are entirely based on DynamicEFI.com's website which can be found at the following link provided below. However, I will be providing a visual of the install from my own perspective, to help you get an idea of how easy it really is...;
http://www.dynamicefi.com/EBL_P4_Install.php
First, remove the lower dash cover on the passenger side of the vehicle and place it out of harm's way. Then unlock (press), and pull down the ECM from it's plastic holder. Lie the ECM down on the floor, and examine the three connectors that connect into it. You will be targeting the one in the middle, the smaller one. In the pic below you will see the now removed lower dash cover on the far left side, the stock ECM which is still connected in the center, and the communication cable provided with your EBL-P4 purchase to the right. The communication cable is to be placed into the middle connector...

Next, place the original ECM somewhere out of of harm's way, and remove the upper and lower light blue terminal/harness locks. Each connector has two, an upper and lower one. A very small flathead screwdriver helps to remove them, they're delicate though, so be gentle. Note the EBL-P4 communication cable now being on the left side...

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...
Next, face the connector towards you so that you can see the rear of the connector, the side where the wires enter "into it" from behind. In the picture below, it is the connector on the right side with the upper and lower blue terminal locks already being removed from the previous instructions and picture. There are three wires from the EBL-P4 communication cable (Red, Green and Black) that are going to now join the original harness, and these three wires will be able to read the data-stream, and tell the What's Up Display in the EBL-P4 system what is going on...

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...
Now, the center factory connector, the one in which you are targeting, will embellish two rows of wire pins. The upper are "Group A", and the lower are "Group B", and starting from right to left, the pins are numbered "one" (far right) through "twelve" (far left). We will start with the Red wire from the EBL-P4 communication cable. This Red wire will go to pin "A1", which is found, if you were following along, on the upper far right of the connector. Just slide it right on in, it positions and locks all on its' own...

Next is the Green wire from the EBL-P4 communication cable. This wire is instructed to go to the "A10" pin, which is found on the upper side, third from the far left, right between "A11" and "A9". Slide the Green wire into "A10", and it will position and lock all on its' own...

Finally the Black wire from the EBL-P4 communication cable. This wire is instructed to go to the "B4" pin location, which can be found on the lower side of the connector, fourth from the bottom right side. Note that all three of the pin locations used were already available for placement, and were not being used by the stock ECM...

Now, gently reinsert the light blue locking tabs to hold the wire terminals in place. Next, line the communication cable up parallel with the stock harness, do not stretch or put any "pull" on your new three wires that you added to your setup, allow for some play, and electrical tape both harnesses together. Be sure to tape over the EBL-P4's communication cable's protective sleeve wrap, don't tape over the wires themselves...

... and finally, reconnect your three connectors, and position your EBL-P4 communication cable in the direction where you want it to lead. Congratulations, your vehicle is now EBL-P4 ready, and ready to be reinstalled back into the dashboard.

Re: Chronicles of a 9 Second 305 Trans Am...
I will be posting up vids and pics of the WUD download, as well as TunerProRT for those who are still essentially new to tuning. Note that I left out the procedures for the stock memcal install to run a Knock Sensor because that is intended for my own personal build, and there are plenty of options if you decide you want to run a Knock Sensor with your particular setup. Tuning vids will be coming up soon, I just want to make sure that new users are able to follow along, I don't want to get way ahead of everyone. Want us all to be on the same page... so if there are any questions, please feel free to ask away.
