s trim cogs or 8 rib

i have a v-1 s trim and a 5 rib setup. it utilizes a second stock gm crank pulley. i need to go to a 8 rib or cogs. Has anyone done this?

Part numbers? pics? anything. vortech cant help. I am willing to pay whatever to get either cogs or a 8 rib gm crank pulley.

See my sig. made 650/650 but kept losing blower belt at 5,300 rpm. would have made more.... for now i have to run a large blower pulley to keep blower belt on.

thanks!

Re: s trim cogs or 8 rib

you should be able to get the 8 rib to work. the s trim kit for an LT1 comes with an 8 rib. you can even run a maxed ysi with an 8 rib if you put idlers in certain spots to increase pulley wrap. need to also run a kurgan crank to blower tension arm to take stress off the crank snout if you are running a real tight belt.

i would bet your blower bracket is flexing causing the belt to toss. may need to reinforce it.

Re: s trim cogs or 8 rib

thanks for the reply. I dont tighten it to the point where the bracket flexs so i dont damage the blower. even when i tightened it on the dyno, it still didnt stay on. the belt was jumping around since it so narrow. all that was happening was the bracket was bending and still flying off. I want to go to a 8-rib and i'll research the info you gave me. thank

keep in mind it doesnt take much to flip a belt off.... a slight out of alignment issue or if the supercharger noses over a bit at high rpms, it could be enough. i think an 8 rib would be the way to go on the s-trim, though. should work good for ya.

Try Auto Specialties Performance in Stafford TX. 281-261-8845. Back in 04 I got a 7.5 in. 8 rib crank pulley insert as its called for my Vortech s-trim. Old info, maybe they are still open.

Did you ever find an 8-rib sbc crank pulley?
