Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
Nice pics, she definitely isn't too far from where you want her to be. The bodywork will be a breeze compared to what I went through though, that is for damn sure lol. Is that your cat in the window? What's his/her name? Were you serious about the closest supermarket store being 55 miles away bro....?

lol thats my neighbors cat,and yeah its 53 miles each way to the store, my town has 2 gas stations a truck stop, a gun shop, pawn shop, bank and a tiny lil food store place , the food store isnt even worth going to in town here.
yeah i only need a tiny bit of body filler for the one dent and the 2 holes i need to fill then the rest is just all sanding
hell the doors dont even sag u can open and close them with one finger

nope car has power windows, for something u can do urself just get bbq grill paint, or spemd the money and have them ceramic coated

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
Haven't kept an ear to the pavement regarding ceramic coating, so I need to research what is the strongest out there. I just finished brazing a set of turbo flanges and wastegates on those exhaust manifolds that I showed you in another thread, as that is why I asked you how yours were clocked a few posts earlier. These are now finished, but I'm now looking to hit them with some form of coating to keep temps of the cast iron itself way down. So many out there to freaking choose from though....

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
picked up my oil feed and return lines today ,still need to install those
ive been working on the wiring , need to run out and get some wire clamps and new loom, but first i need to make 4 connections on the dizzy and run power to the coil,
after that i should ust be able to put the injector harness back on and this thing should fire with the exception fans not being wired and also the temp and oil presure gauges
oh yeah almost forgot need to cut the airtube off for the cat that u can see tucked down near the starter, after that alls thats left is t hook the downpipes upto the y pipe

ok so instead of runing my pipes over the battery im going to go down infront of the waterpump had to clearance the lower rad support to fit the pipes
and a merge pipe i made out of 2 45* bends
i really need to get a bottle of gas for my mig welder or a bottle of argon for my tig machine
aluminized pipe + flux = really shitty looking

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
low range and 5, yeah it is ugly but i think its the cheap *** napa welding wire im using.nothin the grinder cant take care of lol
im actually ashamed of it considerin im a welder by trade and have over 16 years experiance, lol hell back home in my shop i was welding together funycar and dragster chassis.
i also used a sawzall to make my cuts so one side was off a lil bit.that left an 1/8th inch gap on the one section, which prolly had more to do with the ugly weld then anything.
were there was no gap it welded pretty good

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
I weld mostly flux core, and I've found for thin aluminized pipe I usually go 75% power and a slow wire feed, and basicallydo big tacks over and over and over to keep it looking OK. I need to hook the bottle back up, fluxcore is just so cheap and easy though....
So your planning on running two 160lb injectors just for meth? I'm not very familiar with meth injection but that seems like wayyyy overkill?

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
im going beyond just meth injection, the large injectors will really allow me to crank up the meth and dial back my port injectors.
say if i wanted to 70% gas and 30% meth or 80/20 60/40 % etc etc
this will be used for high boost at the track on pump gas

That weld doesn't look that bad in terms of what it trying to accomplish. Yeah, if that was a roll cage then it would be a problem. It fills the hole.
The build is looking great. You have more patients than I do cutting all that pipe with a sawzall.

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
lol they are comming i just got back from napa to order a new thermostat housin it will be here in 3 days, cant really run the car without it as i have no way to circulate water without it.
it does sound well badass except for the near steady miss at idle to 2k rpms think i need to readjust the valves is all
in the time being im oin to get the headers off the car so i can make some spark plug wire holders that mount under the headers to keep the wires away from the downpipes, and take care of some other odds and ends till my new thermostat husin gets here
and i need to order some -4 pushlock fittings and hose today to replace the lines i had made at napa that leak

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
ok guys i have some extra turbo header parts so i figured id ask is anyone interested in purchasing a set of twin turbo headers.
i can build these with t3 or t4 flanges and i would have no prblems hanging a 50+ pound turbo ff either side they are that strong.
if a ton of ppl are interested i could prolly even make a few sets

i swear to god im about to throw this pos hei dizzy in the trash
12* base timing and if i command say a 2* advance i get 4-5*
im about to dig out the vacum advance dizzy remove the vacum can and lock it out to 28* and run that.
ill just hook up a relay on the ignition coil power so i can get the motor to start spinning before the coil has power to help deal with the hard starting

I think they even sell offset dowels for the mechanical advance if you don't want to weld it.

im not going to stick with the hei dont want to lose my antilag or traction control.
i bellive the mismatched timing is my own fault, i have some options enabled that will advance or retard timing based on coolant and air temps i think this is were my added timin is comming from

Re: 89 Iroc - 355,twin gt35's,megasquirt
i got it one of my friends follwingg my build on another forum reminded me about how i setup the ms unit
i had enabled coolant/air based temp ignition settings and with my temp sensors disconected it was causing hell.
basically i have my ms setup to add timmin under certian conditions and set to retard timming from the map under another set of conditions.
with my sensors unhooked it was adding in timing on me, and i had totally forgot i had that enabled

remaining -10 an stuff is ordered it gets here on monday,no wideband though the dam oil line fittings were exspensive .but its enough to get the car driveable till i get paid again in 2 weeks
new rims r also here but i gota get tires for those and im not going to install them till after the car is painted anyway, i dont trust the body shop enough not to get overspray on them

well tommorow i am ordering my wideband, and starting final reassembly of the turbo system. besdies the wideband the only thing i need is some misc nuts and bolts and a tube of copper seal.
i didnt fab any downpipes what im going to do is remove the hood and put two 90* elbows tacked to the downpipe flanges facing up so i can drive the car a few blocks over to the local ex shop and ill have them fab the downpipes. id much rather pay them to do it then do it myself laying on the ground under the car
so this thing should be fully done here in a few days
