Will nitrous hurt my trans?!

Het guys I'm just finishing up my 100 wet shot plate kit and I was wanting to get some info on weather you guys thought it would hurt my transmission. Engine build specs are in my sig. My trans was rebuilt and I put a shift kit with corvette servo in it. I was wondering if me spraying through shifts would hurt my trans or make the band or clutches slip. I know the 700r4s arent the best transmissions so I wanted to get some other peoples opinions and maybe talk to some other people running street strip motors. I'm on 275/60r15 drag radials so the car hooks pretty good on NA setup. Any input would be greatly appriciate. Thanks guys.

Re: Will nitrous hurt my trans?!

Run it and when it does eventually fail, get a better transmission.

Re: Will nitrous hurt my trans?!

Id say the bigger question is will the tires like it

If you can do WOT runs, on full spray and it shifts and hits hard and doesn't smoke em to where you have to lift. Then worry about the trans.

The benefit of spraying through the shifts will probably be mute if your lifting allot.

Tires can help on traction, not all are equal.
Running Fuzion HRIs on the back of my V8 car now and its nice.
They hook so much better, just a squeak on WOT shifts now instead of a loud announcement like a flaming queen coming into a room.

Which is good, spinning your tires gets you nowhere fast, only looks cool.

Re: Will nitrous hurt my trans?!

Well they sell converters with Anti-Balooning plates for Nitrous use. An upgrade to one of those would be a smart move. But with a 100 shot I dont know if its an absolute neccesity. Run it. worse comes to worse you'll need to upgrade your transmission. I mean would you rather not have nitrous and have an okay transmission, or have nitrous and have a great power handling transmission?

Re: Will nitrous hurt my trans?!

there's a chance that adding the nitrous will do in that poor 700....nitrous generates a LOT of torque, and we all know your normal 700 doesn't like a lot of that.

whether its the nitrous or just my heavy abuse, i'm about to build either another 700r4 for my car or swap to a th350

Re: Will nitrous hurt my trans?!

That's what I was thinking. I have thought of just swapping to a th350 or 400 if that one takes a **** but hate to loose overdrive. Have contemplated doing a t56 out of an lt1 car but idk if I want to do that or not. It is a street car that goes to the track 3 or so times a year so mostly just cruise around in it and will only probably spray if I'm running someone that I need to spray. Any advise on what transmission to sway to if my craps out?

Re: Will nitrous hurt my trans?!

Gear vendor overdrives are at least $2500 if I'm correct. That's a lot of money just for overdrive lol

Yeah well you either sacrifice or pay for what you want. You can find them used sometimes on craigslist

Re: Will nitrous hurt my trans?!

It sort of depends on the rebuild. There are some good ones out there, but my general feeling is that most are only about as good as stock or worse. If that's the case you'll toast it... I've done it a couple of times, they just don't like the spray.

If it's built with better parts then it may live. I've even taken one that was badly slipping from getting sprayed a few times (I bought it that way) and dropped a transgo shift kit (they actually fix some of the problems in them, unlike almost all of the others that just make them shift harder) in it and gotten a bunch more passes and almost a year more use out of it.

The converter in these things is irrelevant, a stock or any quality aftermarket converter will be stronger than the tranny
