A little help here

this pistons I am running. I got them from a friend for free brand new cause he went another direction.

what rods should I use? the setup will be those pistons, vortec heads, Ported runners and plenum, etc.

I want to know what the comp. Ratio would be and what rods would hold up the best for what I am doing. It is going to be a procharger setup. Running 10-12 Pounds of boost.

Also I will be converting the Computer to EFI Connection Product's and it will run a LS1 computer and be easy to tune.




Also what would be a good cam to run with this setup?

It doesn't say what the dish volume is in the description, but I'd estimate it about -12cc dish. They're designed to be used in a standard bore 350 block (no overbore) with standard stroke 350 crank and 5.7" rods. Compression ratio will depend on the heads. With big 76cc chambers you'll be roughly in the low 8s. With 64cc chambers you'll roughly in the low 9s.

Too many variables to say any better than that without more info.

 

the heads are just stock 96 vortec heads.

96 stock Vortec CC is 64cc. You need to get the volume of that piston, consider the head gasket thickness when thinking about CR. You could stick with stock length rods. If your pushing 10-12 lbs just make sure you're using an intercooler and 93+ octane. 91 will be fine but if you have 93 available just use it. I'm not able to find anything on volume for those pistons but from what I can find I'm guessing you be around a 9.8:1 CR which is still safe.

 

thanks, I have never messed with a power adder car so I have no cool what I should do for the headgaskets as for size and such so suggestions are helpful..

 

Head gaskets? Use a MLS (multi-layered steel). I have a 4.030 bore block and use a 4.060 bore gasket. .041 compressed thickness.
