Re: couple questions on remote bov's

A bov spring is sized on engine vacuum, not boost psi. You want the bov to open just below idle vacuum, so if your engine idles at 15"Hg, you'd want it to open at 16 or 17"Hg. Most bov's can be adjusted by adding washers to increase opening pressure, or replace/cut down the spring to lower opening pressure. Bov springs are usually rated for psi, and 1 psi = 2"Hg, so for the above example you would want a 8psi spring.

There aren't any drawbacks by adding a bov, just the benefits of reducing surge, keeping boost up during shifts, and the cool psshhh sound.

For my turbo, I bought a cheap eBay bov and it's been working fine for 2 years. You might want to browse youtube and listen to sound clips of different models if sound is a factor for you.

Yes, the bov mounts to the intake tubing. What do mean by remote mount?

Re: couple questions on remote bov's

my friend saw an article in a mustang mag where there was no room for the bov on the intake piping of this guys build so a hose was used to connect the bov to the intake piping and the bov was mounted down in the engine compartment.
