Throttle body inlet keeps blowing off
What do you guys use or suggest for the throttle body hose clamp? I'm running the stock Procharger's tubing / piping and at 5psi, the hose pops off the throttle body, I've tried tightening that thing down but still pops off.

You gots a screw loose d00d. Lol. I wish I could help, I've never had any experience with the hosing from a forced induction build. I don't wanna sound completely idiotic, but you could try Loctite. Good luck.

Re: Throttle body inlet keeps blowing off
I drilled 4 small holes through the rubber tube & throttle body flange. Then screw in 4 sheet metal screws. Put the hose clamp back on over the screws and they aren't noticeable. I'm running 8psi and haven't had an issue since.

Re: Throttle body inlet keeps blowing off
Using a TPI or LT1 throttle body with a 4" 4-ply coupler I have not had any problems running up to 16 PSIg. I also have a CBV/BOV installed.
Parts:
4" 4-ply silicone coupler (siliconestop.com)
4" T-bolt clamp
clean TB with brake cleaner before installing
You could also try a little hair spray on the TB before installing. I think it is more of a function of tightening the T-bolt though. Some vendors also give too large of a T-bolt clamp for a 4" coupler so the clamp can't be tightened properly.

Re: Throttle body inlet keeps blowing off
Well the holes idea I actually thought of 4 rivets but then set in and I figured I'd order some 4" Constant Torque Clamps (T-bar clamps) from turbohoses.com. They should be here Thursday. I should have cleaned the TB with brake cleaner. BTW, this is on a BBK 58mm TPI style TB.
Thanks for the replies.

All the big rigs I deal with use the spring loaded T-bolt clamps. I use the regular T-bolt clamps for my car/small truck boost stuff. You can get them for $2.59 from www.siliconestop.com and they are real Clampco USA made clamps.

what kinda motor mounts do you have, if they are not solid, your motor will move around and that will cause the pipe to pull off, happens to my grand national, until you put a strap on the motor and solves the problem.

Defiantely use a t-bolt clamp. Also what I did on the Novi setup was get some stainless wire and just thread it around the clamp, on the throttle body there are 4 torx or allen head screws holding the TPI nameplate on top, I loosened the back 2 and finished threading the wire around those and snugged them back up. NEVER blew a hose off after that.

Re: Throttle body inlet keeps blowing off
Mark, I like the idea of using safety wire. If you were to conservatively wrap the t-bar clamp with wire and tie it into the TB topplate bolts that'd atleast hold it on. Not to say air wouldn't blow right by the TB / hose connection but undre normal cruise it'd hold fine. Thanks.

Re: Throttle body inlet keeps blowing off
Just wanted to follow up here and close this thread. My issues were resolved once I put on a 4" constant tension clamp (tbolt clamp) from www.siliconestop.com.
Thanks guys.

Just to add my $0.2.......Hairspray.....Ive done a few turbo 4-bangers and when you are pushing over 20lbs of boost coupling blow-offs happen pretty frequently.....Soooo get some Aqua-net - yea the 80's hair metal $hit - spray all your pipes and couplings before connecting, and viola no more blow offs - be sure to use T-bolt clamps for extra insurance though - but Ive run 32lbs of boost on basic screw-on hose clamps with no blow off...........that stuff dries like super glue.

Re: Throttle body inlet keeps blowing off
Using the hair spray method, are you able to take the couplers off easily and without tearing the rubber or silicone? I get nervous using any type of glue b/c I take stuff apart often.

Re: Throttle body inlet keeps blowing off
* if you are using RUBBER connections the alcohol may dry it out and make it crack upon removal. IDK .....so I personally wouldnt do this on a black hose.
