major upgrade for the v6 ( t76 time)

most of u know my build but for those of u that dont

its a 3.1L v6 camaro 60-1 turbo blah blah blah

car put down 270 whp and 370ftlbs at the tires at 9 psi with 8* total ignition timming

well ive decided to step it up a lil bit more

the goal is 500whp this time around so i can run super strret on a 10.90 index

car was already cabable of going mid to low 12,s but the turbo i was using is a good street turbo and was choking the motor uptop not allowing me to fully use the potential of the cam i have

so im am steping upto a master power t76 with a ptrim .68 ex housing and a .72 cold side

this turbo is prolly larger then my dam motor lol

not to much fun for street driving but i dont even car about that anymore

im also gonna move my turbo location from infront of the motor like a gn setup to out by the batter tray, ill post up some pics in a lil bit when i cut up my crossover and mock up the new hotside for the new turbo

i should have the turbo in my hands by thursday

Re: major upgrade for the v6 ( t76 time)

you are going to need way more than 16 psi of boost to make 500 rwhp with that 3.1 v6 .

not much more then 16 the plots were done without an intercooler (meth only)

so naturally ill have to use more boost but i dont think it will take much more

270rwhp (340ish fly) with a 60-1 at 9-10 psi with tune issues im gonna say around 18-19 psi should get me dam close

the only thing that fits a lil better would be a t72 but those arent exactly cheap or easy to get

your 3.1L v6 just doesnt flow enough to make 500 rwhp even at low 20 psi boost range. my advice is to upgrade to a v8 if u want to use the t76.

Well at least try to max out the 3.1 first before you wanna swapp a v8
you already have the turbo in the car all ya gotta do is tune and add methanol

Re: major upgrade for the v6 ( t76 time)

I like the build. Have you thought about using a Borg Warner S400 (75mm comp. inducer). The extended tip tech. helps on making a wide map. Majestic was selling the S400 (75mm wheel) with the 1.10 A/R turbine for $600 when they first started getting popular. I don't think the 1.32 A/R turbine would work. I haven't seen any turbine maps so it is all a guess. The exhaust wheel is the size of a Garrett GT45 series from memory so you could use the Garrett turbine maps.

I am curious how a China GT45 would work out with this setup. T4 1.05 A/R with a Garrett GT42 sized exh. wheel, 68-69mm comp. inducer. I am not sure who's wheel they copied, but I would think it would flow easy 600bhp, just not sure at what pressure ratio.

Re: major upgrade for the v6 ( t76 time)

My prediction is 24-26 PSIg at 6000 RPM will give 600 fwhp. That is using some guesses at your RPM and IAT for the current 340 fwhp at 10 PSI.

If you run more RPM with the right cam then you will make the 600 fwhp with less boost.

I don't see the 76mm comp. inducer being a problem, but the S400 is a better bang for the buck. It all depends on what kind of a deal you are getting on the 76mm turbo. Notice how the T76 map differs greatly from the T72 map on the low side of the lb/min. I don't know what wheel that T76 map is for, but it looks odd.

i am going with a larger cam 272/278 on 115 lsa .525/.525 lift, should help move my peak power up just a lil bit

i was recomended a bw s475 but its to much money to get the ptrim wheel thats a + 200 $ option, were as the mp t76 is only gonna run me 500 bucks to my door.

the ebay gt45 is a copy of the mp gt42 or 45

I would definitely go with the mp t76 in this case for that price. That t76 map looks like it is a very old Garrett map. I would not worry about the surge area with the t76. Yes, the ebay GT45 does look like a mp GT45. It looks something like a garrett GT45 exhaust wheel and a GT40 / GT42 compressor wheel.

yeah im not to worried about the surge line on the t76 with the electronic boost control i can make the turbo spool up later if i need to to keep it from surging, i would give the ebay turbo a shot but i think its gonna have alot of lag, and im only gonna save about 150 bucks if i tried it wereas i know the t76 will work
