short skirt pistons on nitrous

Hey guys ive got a 383 with forged internals good to 800ish hp at the fly.

the motor right now is about a 510hp at the fly.

Im spraying a 150 to the wheels. so right now im at the hi 600-low 700 range. anywhich way im not sure if i want to say spray a 175/200flywheel shot being i have short skirt pistons,.

I heard that it will cause cylinder wall damage with a large shot like that.

the pistons are Keith black forged pistons., they are the brand new ones with the extended ribs for added strength.

i dont want to have my pistons eff up to raise up a 25 shot.

Re: short skirt pistons on nitrous

I'll guess this is a 383(3.75 stroke) with a 6" rod and that's why you're worried? I run a 3.875 stroke(396) and 6" rods which leaves me with even less piston. My compression height is 1.07" roughly...not a lot of room for the rings. I've hit mine all year with 200. I have Diamond pistons/rings which may or may not be better. I don't think your pistons care about an extra 25-50hp but more so about timing and fuel. The wrong tune will end ANY piston. Too much timing, not enough octane, too much fuel...they can all bend ringlands and melt stuff. Keep en eye on the spark plugs, keep the tune in check and it'll be fine. We hear about people spraying stock pistons with 200-300 all the time and they'll live if the tune is safe. Your forged KB's are stronger than stock, that's for sure.
