Took my 92 RS to Cecil County Dragway last night and was quite disappointed. Car is set up for ~140 shot of nitrous. Last time the car was run with nitrous it was set up for ~100 shot back in May and ran a 12.99. Made my first pass, car ran a 14.4, keep in mind it runs a 13.7 on motor. Made my second pass, a slight improvement but still no gain whatsoever. Also detonation occurred at about half track. Came to the conclusion that motor was getting no fuel from fuel solenoid, nitrous solenoid working fine. Would these symptoms confirm lack of fuel in the system? Suggestions?

 

first of all, whats the specs on the motor? how is your fuel system setup(pump, feed/return line size etc)? and is fuel injected or carbureted? sounds to me like that step up to the 140 shot have pushed or is pushing your fuel system to its limits.

 

Car has a 350 vorte c TBI motor. Injectors were upgraded. Nitrous jetting being used is reccommended in owners manual. Fuel system should be adequite.

If I'm reading this right... You ran slower while trying to use the nitrous? What nitrous kit are you using?

 

yes, the car ran slower. Using the NOS TBI Wet Kit. Problem is there is no fuel getting to the fuel solenoid.

I would think it's the other way around if it slowed down. Little to No nitrous flowing but you're drowning the engine out with extra fuel causing you to go slower. You'd go way lean if no extra fuel was going in.

and i also suspected no nitrous flow going to the plate but i know for a fact that it is going in the motor. Bottled weighed less after a couple passes of this and the exit line of the solenoid was disconnected and nitrous was activated to make sure it was working properly. The fuel solenoid, however, has no fuel in or out.

 

That's a strange one then. So no fuel is getting to the solenoid? Is the fuel solenoid clicking when activated? It's just a simple T into the fuel line right? Got a clog or something going on.

 

the only way the car would go slower would be too much fuel. because if the solonid for nos was open all the way with no fuel your motor would have 8 holes in it . the detonation you had was proably a too rich mixture.
I can bet 100 dollars your nos solonid is opening then shutting or not opening fully. ive had 3 nos cheaters do this and is why i switched to big shot noids. beleive me if it was no fuel you would be telling us a different story.

 

i back you up 100% on that, however what confuses me is that there is NO fuel in the line BEFORE the fuel solenoid. Also, the nitrous feed was disconnected, and then the system was activated, meaning that it should bog down due to a rich mixture. However, when the system was activated, there was no change in rpm at all.

EDIT* - Pulled a few plugs out today and they were white as snow. Car was running wayyy lean.

 

Start tracing stuff back in the fuel line to see why nothing is getting through. Really strange that nothing is even getting TO the solenoid.

 

yeah. I think that when the fuel supply hole was drilled and tapped into the TBI some metal shavings were left inside, clogging up the inlet fitting.
