502 twin turbo in my Trans Am?

Hey all, im nearly finished building my 502 bbc and wanting a power adder. I hate hondas and supras, i live in a city where they are "the ****" My buddy however says a fair lady Z or a turbo supra would rape my 502 even if i put a blower on it. So to stop this from happening I am thinking of doing a twin turbo set up and aim for a red line of about 7000RPM. I have been looking on google for awhile now and cant find any turbo company websites that i could use for a BBC. If anyone else has done something similar or knows of a website that would be useful it is much appreciated! Thanks!

BBC in a thirdgen with twins.........good luck. You are going to have to either cut the hood up and/or the strut supports. Then cut up the floor to fit the exhaust to make to the rear of the car.

It isn't a simple bolt on project for turbos especially with a BBC. No, no one has commercially available BBC thirdgen headers. A good fab. shop would have no problem building them for about $1000-$1500 for mild steel. Probably $2000 for stainless.

Save yourself some time and buy the supercharger..........or stop listening to your friends..........or just put a 300HP N2O kit on it.

if i wasn't going to do the twin turbos then, should i go with a centrifugal blower and throw in N2O tooÉ I heard with a centrifugal your high end doesnt suffer as much as it would with a roots style.

Re: 502 twin turbo in my Trans Am?

I'm with junk, ditch the TT idea and go with like a F1 cog blower from procharger. There are PLENTY of big block cars with that setup going a hell of lot faster than most would dare on the street. The other comment about headers is true as well. While there might not be any exhaust setups for turbo BBC's there are BBC headers for 3rd gen's out there that would probably do a fine job with a supercharged 502. My

I dont have any SC or turbo experience, but I have been researching Prochargers. They sendt a catalog and I was impressed with there product.

I would guess that a single SC would fit best.

Plus I want to see how the build turns out.

Good luck.

Re: 502 twin turbo in my Trans Am?

you could always do one of those rear mount turbo kits that would be sweet. Also i doubt a tt supra could keep with a built 502 t/a unless its one of those 900 hp ones lol

Re: 502 twin turbo in my Trans Am?

I'll have a P1SC unit with less than 3k miles on it, 1 complete rebuild via Procharger because I had it out with them (turns out the headunit did not need a rebuild) after September. I'm upgrading to either a D1SC or a F1 head unit.

Re: 502 twin turbo in my Trans Am?

Just be sure to pick the one that will reach your hp goal, specially if you might want the f-1r. I believe that f-1r, f-2, and maybe f-3 use the same bracket while the p-1sc, d-1sc, and f-1 share the same bracket. This is one of the papers I got from them:

Re: 502 twin turbo in my Trans Am?

I wouldnt worry too much about "fairlady Zs" most arent very fast at all. I havent seen too many vids of Zs running 10s or lower. now the supras on the other hand can be a problem. Why dont you just slap on a 200 shot and save some money. That 502 should be making a bit over 500HP right?

a two or three hundred shot should keep you up with the supra crowd...most of them atleast.
