remote mount turbo, smog??

Maybe someone can confirm this, in Ca after the cat is unregulated right?(aside from needing a muffler)

So does that mean i could do a remote mount turbo and then just unhook the intake fittings, reinstall the oem intake and take it through smog??

Re: remote mount turbo, smog??

the sts turbo kit i installed on my old roomates 99 trans am was 50 state legal. but to answer your other question you "could" do that but you are going to have two different tunes or your car is going to run way to fat (rich) and be in a constant state of turbo lag. but if you are that worried about emissions then i think it could be done. i would just find a emmisions tech and get him a case a beer and call it passed.

not from cali, so i dont know, but good luck running the pipe from the turbo to the intake, its hard enough with one pipe going back, i cant imagine another, much less a way to get it back into the engine bay. i would love to do i remote turbo, i toy with the idea all the time, but these are the obsticals that always make me stop thinking about it

Re: remote mount turbo, smog??

well swapping tunes on the vehicle is not a problem. And bribing a smog tech is not part of what i wanna do.

I was mainly hoping someone could just confirm that Ca doesnt regulate after the cat. If that is true then i should be able to add a remote turbo and not fail smog.
