What are the best plugs to use in a nitrous engine?
Hi I am almost ready to hook up my nitrous kit, but I want a specific recommendation on what plugs to use. I have a blaster 2 coil, am replacing my 6al with a digital 6, msd 8.5mm wires, and for fuel I have a walbro 255lph pump with an afpr and 30# injectors that have the pulse width modified with a prom adapter I bought through TPI parts. I know I need a few heat ranges colder, but I'm hoping I could get a part number or link from one of the savvy veterans here lol. Thanks a lot.

NGK 8? Is 8 the heat range on them? Sorry, I don't know much about plugs... here is a link to jegs.com's spark plug selectionL: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...10391_-1_10359 maybe you can point them out? Does anyone else have any recommendations? Not saying yours is bad, chevymec, but a second opinion would be good.

Re: What are the best plugs to use in a nitrous engine?
It seems like these are the only ngk plugs that are made to fit my engine:

They all seem to be a heat range or two too high. Did you have to shim and re-gap those tr6's when you put them in? I might just go with the autolite because I don't want to mess with that if I do, even though NGK seems to be recommended over and over.

Eh I have the next two days off to change them and do a compression test so I just picked up some AC Delco plugs at Auto Zone that were a heat range colder than stock. Any objections?

Re: What are the best plugs to use in a nitrous engine?
i had NGK UR6's which if i remember correctly are 2 heat ranges cooler which is good for a big shot and drove normal without nitrous. theyre the v-groove plugs. i ran a 150 shot on them for a couple years and no problems. even after i ran a bad nitrous tune and melted one that cylinder kept firing believe it or not. basically go to the parts store and ask for 2 heat ranges colder plug thats meant for your car. acdelco has some i used to have before i changed my heads that i wouldve trusted with nitrous.

So I want to gap it at .005" more than stock? I'm glad I had a lazy day and haven't put them in yet lol.

dude.
ngk tr6
gap at .028
trust me on this.
actually lets go ahead and get this started. why does everyone think they need a huge gap?

Re: What are the best plugs to use in a nitrous engine?
I swear though when I looked at the specs on the ngk tr6, the reach was like .25" too long. From what I understand about gap though, a smaller gap will create a smaller but more consistent spark and a larger one will creat a larger but less consistent spark. You would think that a higher quality ignition system over factory would allow to use a larger spark, but it probably isn't necessary. I think I'm just going to split the difference between you guys and just leave the plugs at what I've already gapped, which is stock. Thanks for your input.

whats the point of the larger gap? i hope no one thinks they will get power out of it.
now indexing the plugs is worth a good bit of power.
