NOVI 2000 or VR4

I just recently got a high paying job and I am looking to upgrade my paxton sn89 supercharger. The new supercharger has to be paxton because I am using a paxton bracket that will work for novi or vr4. I have a guy that has a kit that converts a SN 89 to a VR4 for $800. Should I do that or go with the used Novi 2000 for $1100. Anyone running a NOVI 2000? How bout the VR4 upgrade kit?

Re: NOVI 2000 or VR4

I'm running a Novi2000 I dont think the bracket you have will work for a Novi2000. There was a Novi GSS if I recall that was a slight upgrade to the SN89 and the VR4 was a significant upgrade. check out https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/powe...raded-vr4.html
looks like the VR4 is nearly a straight bolt in. No idea what it's limits are though.

My setup required a full custom bracket, well pretty much custom everything lol it was an adventure but certainly doable. The Novi2000 can move ALOT of air. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/powe...ight=novi+2000

Thanks for the link on the novi! I think I would fabricate new holes in the existing bracket for the sn89. The VR4 kit seems a little bit too powerful for my stock 305. The NOVI seems perfect for the 8-10 psi I am looking for.

Re: NOVI 2000 or VR4

It probably wont be as simple as drilling new holes, the Novi2000 is a big unit, probably wont even fit in the cutout like the SN series, differant mounting setup . It is engine oil fed, not a self contained unit. So you need an oil feed and drain hole in the oil pan. The Novi 2000 is an entirely differant beast than the SN2000. SN2000 should bolt in place of the SN89 LOL I wish paxton would have picked better names, I'm confusing myself.

Mark, do you have the template for the custom bracket you built?

Re: NOVI 2000 or VR4

My original template is long gone, lol wouldn't have done any good anyway, some things were tweaked after the bracket was cut. The engine is coming out in the next month or so. If your interested I could make a trace of it once everything is pulled. Read my thread and be forewarned even with the bracket additional fabrication will be necessary, but if you've got the time and patience thats half the fun!
