Re: new turbo setup

I like it. Give us some more info on your setup. Did you do all the fabrication yourself? Is there an intercooler up by the radiator? What are your plans for the car?

Re: new turbo setup

yeah i did everything.
its 3.1 8.5-1 cr polished rods lightened crank, std pistons, plasma moly rings, ported heads oversized stainless valves, ported manifold with custom sheetmetal uper plenum (just not pictured in the pics)
the cam is a custom grind 268/272 adv duration int/ex

the current turbo is 51mm .63 t3 hotside its way to small
i will be going with one of these 70mm variants soon though
69mm inducer
91mm exducer
or
70mm inducer
98mm exducer

the first oen would be a t4 hotside with an .84 housing
and the second would be a gt42 with a 1.05 ex housing also t4

car has a front mount intercooler its actually painted black, the one in the car is out of a volvo deisel truck, and is way to small for either of the new turbos. but i have yet to decide on a new ait to air or air to water cooler setup

forgot to add the car is tuned by the means of a megasquirt 1 v2.2 running msnextra

Re: new turbo setup

looks pretty good! A master power t-70 with the .68 housing would do nice, even a 60-1 or 62-1. The t-70 is hard to beat at $585 new, they have taken stock shortblock 5.0's into the 9's

Re: new turbo setup

im sticking with the brand of turbo i started with, xspower the turbo on that motor has over 100k on it and alot of high boost time it has minimal play and never had an issue with it.im on another forum with the guy who runs xspower or works for them i think he owns xspower.great deals on the stuff and i have all the exact measurement sof there stuff.he honors all the warrentys and bends over backwards to help ppl when something dont go right.

the first turbo is the specs on the there t61 model which is a copy of the mp t70 unit

the second ones are the specs of there gt45 unit which is a mp gt45 unit

the supra guys love these things and put down some really big numbers with the t61 stuff and even higher numbers with the gt45 stuff avg hp on the t61 stuff is around 500

Re: new turbo setup

some testing at the track

mid 14 @ 6psi on street tires and letting off right before the 1000ft mark mph shows that it was let off way early.will scan the slip tom afternoon.reason being is not having an upto date spec helmet and rental helmets are only good to 14.0 . going back friday on slicks and with a correct helmet to make some full passes. im predicting 13.8 @ 6psi in full race trim or better once i get her a lil more comfortable in the car i will up the boost and throw the slicks back on it for her

btw its not me driving and i suck at filming specially when ur trying to teach somone how to do the burnout and stage/launch a car at the same time
