RMT and vortec heads.,

This sounds like a good idea to me and cheap enough. Noone stir me away from a RMT i have don my researching. I just need to know if Vortec heads is a good idea? Also should i stick with a stock cam? I mean what would be a mild cam for a RMT setup?

I guess that would all depend on what intake you plan on running with it. Other than having an appropriate manifold to fit the heads, not a thing wrong with using them. They flow pretty good.

Vortecs will work fine. Stock cams work fine as well. What size turbo you planning on going with? For reference, near the end of the season last year, a buddy and i bolted on a cast manifold single turbo kit to his LT1 formula that only had forged pistions/rods, stock everything else, and on 8lbs in first and 11lbs in 2nd went 10.80 @ 128 mph on the stock 16"s with a 28x10.50 MT on the back, and a slipping TH400 on the 1-2 shifts.

Its a traditional front mount set up with a ballbearing T76, but stock heads/cam will work to support what power you might want on the stock internals. Think about trying to drop that compression, his was 9.5:1 but we had a functioning knock sensor, and ran the 11lbs on 91 octane with 16* at WOT.

Rear mounts can be fun, just make sure you address the oil control issues. Even though STS does not run intercoolers on all set ups, if you can budget it in, i would really consider it, anything to help out that bottom end
