On a 350 about 120 completely stock. 6 gives a hundred.

Re: Turbo Headers????

so stock they put down wat like 185 190 to the wheels? 225 at the flywheel. with 8 psi they only pull 300 or barely higher? that's pretty bad.

Re: Turbo Headers????

I may be mistaken but 300 zx tt turbos would work but you should only run about 7-8 lbs of boost although i don't know if they will flow enough exhaust. they are designed for 9.8 lbs of boost stock but will support 18 and are designed to fill 1.5L of displacement each so at 9 psi filling 3L is not a problem, and they are running in their efficiency zone. i actually used a turbo calculator after i figured that out and it recommended the same turbos for my friends z at 20lbs as my firebird at 10lbs.

and the reason he is switching to cast manifolds is because they retain more heat which reduces turbulence which increases your turbo's efficiency and will make it spool better heat is good for a turbo they are designed for it.

Re: Turbo Headers????

If you do some simple mods to your engine, you will get a much higher increase.
Thats cool about the cast manifolds, makes sense.
Would they retain more heat than some ceramic coated headers?

Re: Turbo Headers????

that is true but apparently the benefits outweigh the drawbacks because he is switching none the less, to bad we cant hear from the man himself we could all stand to be corrected by someone as successful as himself.

Re: Turbo Headers????

Perhaps its a strength issue. Probably would never crack a cast iron manifold, and if he coated them.....I think I would go with cast for durability and extra space.

Re: Turbo Headers????

my only turbo experience is with a good friend's 300zx tt and he mentioned the other day that $1500 tubular headers only last about 1 1/2 years but the stock cast manifolds never crack and I'm sure space is at a premium good point batass

Re: Turbo Headers????

I just had to get in on this. I was considering buying a set of weld up headers and cutting them and fitting them to the correct lengh. Since they are already bent and all. Thoughts?

Re: Turbo Headers????

i was told that the 4 into 1 collector would probably cause a lot of exhaust turbulence which is bad.

Really? How is that? Isnt that kinda what your trying to avoid by going with headers? Or is that just with a turbo on the end of it? I would think unequal length cast iron manifold would create more turbulence with the pulses hitting each other.
Do you find it strange to type "batass"? lol. Thats my nickname around here (Bat), and people are like, what? Is that really his name?

And dude I know you want that kit, but everyone here has pretty much said NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Those headers will probably break the first summer. The turbos are a risk. The rest of the stuff is cheap anyway. Use that 800 bucks and get two good turbos. A good intercooler is what another 200-300 bucks? Get some cast iron manifolds and get a shop to weld up the flanges. Shouldnt cost much.
You will be much happier, rather than tearing all the stuff apart (probably when youd rather be driving the car), and buying new good stuff. You wont be saving any money or time. If you wait another month to get together some more money you will still have it done in three months from now, just in time for sweet sweet summer.
